Eeeeekkkkkkk!!!! (The problem with indoor/outdoor cats) |
| |
| I just found a dead chipmunk in my bed! I darn near had a heart attack. That darn cat. He like to bring in his catches so he can have a midnight snack. This one he left under the sheets in my bed! I darn near had a heart attack when I pulled back the sheets. I'm surprised that the neighbors didn't hear me screaming (and our nearest neighbor is 1/2 mile away) I thought maybe you guys would get a chuckle out of it.... | | | | | |

| | HAHA oh wow! THATS SO TERRIBLE! and yeah, just a tad humorous. Cats can be some great predators, and they love to bring home their little trophy from the battlefields. My mom always tells me about how her cat would bring a dead lizard to her every morning as if to show her she did a good job. The worst part is, my mom has a huge phobia of reptiles, ESPECIALLY of lizards. She yells hysterically and jumps onto chairs and couches at the sight of even the tiniest lizard-like creature. but yeah, god luck with your cat. | | | | | | |

| | Thank you for responding! I think I need luck with this cat (his name is Dawg). This isn't the first thing that he's brought in, but it's is the first prize that he's hidden in our bed! I think I'll keep the bedroom door closed from now on. | | | |

| | Thank you for commenting. Cat's can be kind of pain sometimes. but, I'm also happy to get the rodents under control. They've been getting under the hood of my van and doing damage. | | | |

| | Ah ha ha ha ha! I think I would have screamed loud enough to wake the dead. I had a cat once that brought in a live ermine (a little weasel) I guess to teach her kittens how to kill. Luckily it was dazed and I grabbed it and brought it back out side. When it came to, it came after me! That little bugger would have killed the kittens. | | | | | | |

| | Thanks for your message! I did scream pretty loud. My husband came running to see what was going on. DO you think he would dispose of the chipmunk though??? Heck no! I had to do it. | | | |

| | Chipmunks and squirrels are big time carriers of fleas and ticks. Check your sheets, wash in HOT water. | | | | | | |

| | Thank you for your response. I stripped the entire bed pretty darn quick. Blankets, sheets, mattress pad... everything. It all went into the wash with hot water and bleach. Those sheets are probably so shrunk that they'll never fit on the bed again! | | | |

| | That's good but let's hope they didn't shrink. Hang dry without putting in the drier might help. Good luck! | | | |

| | with the first cat we had, anything that flew in the house (bug) was fair game to play with and snack on. fly, moth, it didnt matter, she found and caught it, and then *MUNCH!* | | | |

| | It's not for him to snack on, it's for YOU :) Most of the time, when a cat leaves one of their catches where you can find it (or in a place where you often go, like your bed), it's because they like you and are bringing you a present! That they think of you as a fellow cat (a HUGE compliment in catdom) and they want to show you that they love you by bringing you something they worked to get. You know how in the wild, big cats like lions and tigers will catch prey and bring it to their den for their cubs? It's the same way with housecats. So you should thank your kitty (and THEN throw the awful dead thing away when he's not looking! LOL!) | | | | | | |

| | He's left mice and stuff just outside the door before, but this is the first time he's brought one that far into the house. We try to catch him at the door for inspection when he comes in, but sometimes he sneaks in with the dogs. He got real upset when I took it out.... followed me all the way out to the yard whining. Thank you for your comments! | | | |

| | That's right. I believe almost everyone who come accross this will have a good laugh. Cats are adorable, sometimes. But some of them will do annoying things too, like the one in your house. When I was young, I saw my cat killed a rat, and left its head under the kitchen table. That disgusted me on the spot. Besides, they like to prey on little creature and leave the remnant or dead body inside the house. I do not know how to deal with it, but end up disallow them entering the house. That's the simplest way I could think of LoL! | | | | | | |

| | I can't quite keep him out of the house. He's definitely one of the family, and one of the friendliest cats we've ever had. We just have to pay more attention to what he's bringing in! THank you for posting! | | | |

| | Oh no! Fortunately, Shirley can't come in until I open the door for her in the morning, so she can't come sneaking in on her own. She climbs up the window screen to let me know that it's time, though. The last two mornings when I went out to look at my small patch of veggies, I've found a mole that has met its demise thanks to her. I don't mind that, since moles are a pest anyway, as long as she leaves them outside, dead or alive! | | | | | | |

| | Dawg has taken out a few moles too. They must taste bad though, because he never eats them. He will eat the mice, tail and all, but he doesn't eat the chipmunks or the moles. Gross huh? No wonder we won't let the cat kiss us - or sleep in our bed. He has a nice fluffy cat bed in the furnace room. | | | |

| | That is one of the reasons my cat is strictly an indoor cat. I do not want any little presents. Just think what would have happened if he brought in one that was like half alive and hid underneth a bureau or something. it could have been worse! | | | | | | |

| | Sounds like a problem that needs solving! I do know that there is a patent in the making that should solve your problem. First of all, it is a new invention that ends the kitty oder and your pet does not need to go ouside, but the door can still be used as attached. I grew up with many farm animal friends, and always had a safty issue concerning my cat, when allowed outside. Yes... I did enjoy the comments you made, and could picture you standing there with a surprised look on your face! Thank you for the laugh! Look for the invention to be in stores soon, that is if you are interested! | | | | | | |
