I like angel hair pasta. It cooks fast and my stomach doesn't get that 'too full' feeling after I'm done eating. What's your favorite spaghetti and why? My ex mother-in-law made her own spaghetti. Do you?

That sounds good, I love green bell peppers and pasta. But, what kind of pasta do you prefer, or do you have a preference? Angel Hair, Vermicelli, Linguini_ ?

Carbonara and lasagne are my favourites.. But i will prefer carbonara as it can fill me up.. As for lasagne, i will treat it as just a starter for me.. LOL ^_^ The portion is just too small for me.. hehe ^_^

Carbonara is just another name for pasta.. hehe ^_^ Yeah, it's always hard to eat lasagne due to it's weird shape and it's soft too.. Plus, it has to be eaten hot and with 3 layers, it's gonne be difficult to eat it.. And when cut it, the things inside will start to fall out and may end up eating the whole lasagne separatrly.. LOL

Okay, I'm still confused. Is Carbonara a word from a different language that means spaghetti? Or is it some kind of pasta I don't see on the grocery shelf because I'm not looking for it? With lasagne falling around me, now I'm lost in trying to figure out a new word. I'm not that smart. I'm only goofing around with you. Still, I would like to know more about this carbonara if you come back to this discussion. [em[happy[/em]

Okay, you got me. What is Carbonara? I know, lasagne isn't filling. It looks like it's filling. But then all those noodles start slipping, and the cheese falls off. After that, everything kind of falls off the plate and you're trying to push it back onto the plate without anyone noticing. But it never works and the lasagne ends up looking like a big plate of nothing and I'm still hungry. Look, I learned how to make these

My sons and I like angel hair the best. I never tried making the pasta itself. I can make the sauce from scratch, but is often too tempting to just open a jar.

getnbuy_ I'm a jar and box person myself. Cooking is something I avoid at all costs.

Actually angel hair is my favorite too. I was the the only one in the house who likes this all that much for a lot of years though. When the kids were little, I made curly pasta all the time. It was easy for them to eat and for some reason that was what they liked. Now that there's only one kid left in the house, I do the angel hair and he's a good kid, he the only one who eats everything.

Our youngest is 14 - the two oldest are my husbands's kids from his first marriage, but they lived with us off and on. The oldest is 36. Then we have two more of "our" kids 21 and 24 out of the house and those two were also picky like the older ones. The "baby" of the family is a pleasure to have around. By curly pasta I meant what might be called rotini - it's like little corkscrews and the kids liked the multi-colored kind too.

whittby_ I love cooperative kids. How old is the kid still living with you? Sounds like he/she is different from your other kids. By curly pasta, do you mean elbow macaroni?

I like the thin spagetti, with homemade sause and meatballs.

Who makes the sauce? Did you read the story that toni wrote, right before your post? It's an awesome story about how her family makes sauce. You'll like it.

I've never tried spaghetti with the angel hair noodles. Im gonna have to remember to get that next time I go to the store, hearing how everyone says its really good :) We usually just eat our spaghetti with the thin noodles and cheese sauce instead of marinara sauce.

Angel hair is thinner than the 'thin' noodles. Watch out for the sauce though. Because angel hair is slippery, the sauce slides right off if you're not careful. Cheese sauce might stick more that marinara.

My favorite pasta is angel hair pasta. I will eat thin spaghetti too, but I do not like to eat the regular spaghetti. It is too thick. I have never made my own pasta.

I have never made my own pasta. I like cork screw noodles. There is this dish I like. It is a spicy corkscrew pasta with chicken. It has a spicy chipolte sauce. It is very tasty.

ersmommy_ That's too many spicy words for one dinner. My stomach can't handle spicy and it would say 'no way, that stuff hurts.' If I was at your house, I would have to find a way to make my stomach be quiet.

I like the angel hair pasta but my husband thinks it is not quite thick enough so we use the thin spaghetti noodles and those seem to work really good for everyone.

I've heard that before too. People don't feel like they ate enough when they eat angel hair. I think it's mostly a guy thing. (Why not blame them for one more thing? lol) Thin spaghetti is a good comprimise. There's quite a few people who would agree with you, I'm sure.

She makes her own spaghetti! :) Wow. I am very fond of all pastas, especially spaghetti (with meatballs, prego! :D). Angel hair is so light, I like it a lot with alfredo sauce. There's linguine that's very smooth, and I love the pasta used in lasagna, yum! I'm making myself hungry here. :) I love how easy it is to cook pasta too - boil water and then 7-11 minutes for awesome Italian goodness? It should be called the best fast food! :) But in all seriousness, I could eat pasta for every meal! :D

WindWhisked_ listen you! If you keep talking about pasta like that, I'm going to have to cook some right now! I like Prego sauce as well. I like the chunky garden style.

Angel hair for me, too. I can't stand that thick, yucky regular spaghetti. I also use angel hair to make tuna casseroles and stuff, it's great.

I never thought about angel hair in a tuna casserole. But then, I never thought about making tuna casseroles either!

Angel Hair is my favorite, too. So light! Make my own spaghetti? Are you nuts? I really would love to know how our grandmothers did these things. I just don't have the time or energy! I even bought a pasta maker, but it sits in a cupboard, gathering dust. *sigh*

mentalward_ Yes, I am nuts, but I was hoping no one would notice. lol That's the problem with 'gadgets.' They usually do get stuck in the cupboard. Our grandmothers came from a different era and they had more time for culinary arts. I like frozen foods.
