I've made up my mind for who want to vote for! | | But unfortunately, he's not on the ballot. Heck, he's not even BREATIHNG.
Yes, I want to vote for John F. Kennedy. First, by current standards, he'd be considered a Conservative, perhaps even a Republican, given his view of taxes, personal responsibility & moral issues.
(And yes, I KNOW he was a philanderer, but at least he was a DISCREET one! NO-ONE would ever THINK to ask JFK, "Boxers or briefs?")
Second, he would've understood why we HAVE to be at war in the Mid-east, & he'd do it.
Third, he cared far more about the COUNTRY than his party.
It's just a shame we haven't ANYONE like that running today!
Hmm...maybe we could write in his name... as a sort of grass roots version of a ballot which OUGHT to include, "D -- None of the above."
Certainly we'd at least be voting for someone who has a "ghost" of a chance at being a zillion percent better candidate than the 3 we're stuck with NOW!

I was not born when JFK was president but i have heard some very good things about him and a few bad things on the side that really had nothing to do with his title in the office. I just wish they would get someone in there to do something for this country. I want someone who cares for us and does not lie to us every chance they get. They all promise this and that and then once elected, they do nothing but make things worse.

| | 5. irisheyes (2933) | 2 years ago | Interesting thread. JFK certainly brought glamour to politics. But I think his "discreet philandering" had more to do with the discretion of the media back in the day. It was nothing like the scrutiny the candidates are under today. A little before JFK, there was a president in a wheel chair and the press knew never to photograph the wheelchair or his crutches so that most of the country did not even know FDR was crippled. Can you imagine that happening today? Guess we have to take them warts and all but it certainly gets in the way of discretion not to mention glamour. LOL

Maggiepie (1625) | 2 years ago | Re the media, you have valid points. Still, I don't give a tinker's dam about "glamour," one of the MAIN reasons our electoral system's in trouble today; people want sharp looks & fancy dancing in a president, & are willing to ignore bad policies, inexperience, & even traitorous acts to get it.
