I finally got my daughter's ballet pictures. It only took them 2 months to cash the check and send the pics. And I personally don't think they're all that good. The lighting makes the girls look pale and just sort of blah. Professional pictures are supposed to be better done than this, but I had no option.
I'll add her group pic here. Her single pic will be on my profile.
So... does anyone have any stories about professional pictures?

They told us to put heavy make-up on the kids so they wouldn't look pale. The camera and lighting does make things a little lighter. Ours were done at the ballet school where it was already pretty bright. Most photographer studios are kept rather dark to get a better effect. I'm not sure what you paid for it. But for what I paid for ours I still would have considered that an good quality. And personally I don't think the kids look pale.
Now the two months processing time, that's another thing. That took way too long and is unprofessional, IMO.

The girls, or at least my daughter IS wearing very heavy make up. I think a couple of the girls look a little pale... but I have also seen them in person where as you haven't. I know many of these girls are so much prettier in person than they look here.
And yes it was very bright, it was taken in a classroom that was already bright, and they brought their own lighting. I really don't think the backdrop helped either. Last year it was gray, and that wasn't so bad.
And the processing isn't even the worst part. They are supposed to ship the pictures to my house...
Last year the director recieved my pictures, which isn't a huge deal as she lives across the street from me. This year the pictures went to the elementary school so my daughter got her hands on them first. She's 5... can you imagine what she could have done? Luckily she did not even look at them until she brought them home.

I really don't like the photos that the kids bring home from school. At least I get to see them before I buy, but I normally buy them regardless because it's a nice momento and a school fund rasier. It's actually quite nice to trace them through the years though.
