Sour Cream Lemon Bread  |

 I made some Sour Cream Lemon bread in my bread maker today. I had not used the bread maker in a long time, but I was flipping trough a cookbook today and saw a recipe for this bread and it sounded good. It had a recipe for a spread to go with it too. I made it and it is wonderful. Have you baked anything lately? Do you like using a bread maker?

But what you made sounds really good, I think I'd like o learn how to make sourdough bread, most of the times its just as easy and cheap to buy it in hte store, and right now I've been too tired lately to do a lot of making my own bread....

I'd like to find a good rice bread recipe (wheat and gluten free bread)

I've not gotten one for years because for the longest time I had no self control at all when it came to bread. I've since reworked my eating habits, learned to love portion control so I think I'm ready to have one in the house and not go nuts. It's probly be like when I bought the crock-pot a few years ago, I don't think I cooked a meal in anything else for months, lol.

Sour Cream Lemon Bread
Ingredients:
* 1/4 cup sour cream
* 2 tablespoons lemon juice
* 2 to 3 tablespoons warm milk (70° to 80°)
* 2 tablespoons butter, softened
* 1 egg
* 2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
* 2 tablespoons sugar
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
* 2 cups bread flour
* 1-1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
* LEMON SPREAD:
* 1 package (3 ounces) cream cheese, softened
* 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
* 1 tablespoon lemon juice
* 1 teaspoon lemon peel
Directions:
In a measuring cup, combine sour cream and lemon juice. Add enough milk to measure 1/2 cup. In a bread machine pan, place the sour cream mixture, butter, egg, lemon peel, sugar, salt, baking soda, flour and yeast in order suggested by manufacturer. Select sweet bread setting. Choose crust color and loaf size if available. Bake according to bread machine directions (check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed).
In a small mixing bowl, combine the spread ingredients; beat until smooth. Serve with the bread. | |

My mother-in-law just gave me her bread machine and so far this week I have made a rich white bread, sourdough bread and a banana nut bread. I cannot believe how easy it is! I am having so much fun using it!
