Two year old locks Mum out of the house for ten minutes. |
|
Today in the heart of UK a two year old went outside with her Mum to help her peg out the washing. When Mum had moved further down the garden to peg the last few bits out, the little pesky two year old went back into the house, mum not thinking anything of it carried on. All of a sudden Mum heard the back door shut, realising with horror that she could hear the key going she raced to the back door. It was too late, for the first time, the two year old had finally gained the height, strength and knowledge to turn the key and lock Mum out. She tried to cajole and blackmail her daughter into doing it again and so opening it but to no avail the door remained locked. Her hubby had gone out, her son was out at an exam and her phone was in the house. Oh dear. Luckily for Mum, hubby had forgotten his wallet and so had to return and luckily hubby was able to open the back door even though the key was in the door and so they all lived happily ever after. Moral for Mum, in future when in the garden and the house is empty take the key OUT of the door! This is what happened to me today, and after having four children, three of whom did exactly the same to me in past years, that I would have learned my lesson. Sadly not! Has anyone else been locked out of their house or anywhere?, be it through children or not having a key on them? Waiting to hear all your stories!

1. LilyPad123 (238) | 3 months ago | That is funny, i thought it was someone else. Thankfully your daughter is in the UK. If that incident happened from where i live, the child would gotten a good spanking. I am not being harsh or anything. But you should be proud of her as 2 year old to outwitted you...

LilyPad123 (238) | 3 months ago | I said from where i lived and it happened than chances are there that parents might spank thier kids. But i am praising her child, i am not telling her to smack her child.

4. checapricorn (6066) | 3 months ago | wow! Lucky for great coincidence that your husband left something...LOL! I have tried locking our door and my sister was in the shower, our room is separated from shower and when I left, I just forgot that she was still inside the apartment. I lock the door. When i arrived in the office, I saw 2 keys, means I also throw her keys in my purse. I decided to go home to save her..LOL, since she will also be working by 8 am, when i got there, she was able to destroy already the padlock and was mad at me..LOL!

5. SomeCowgirl (2085) | 3 months ago | Oh wow, you have a smart little kid on your hands. Luckily she was safe from harm, was she by the door when you hubby came to the rescue? How was he able to unlock it with the key still in the door?

| |
|
|
gemini_rose (7428) | 3 months ago | Yes she is pretty smart, but then she has to be she has 3 older brothers to contend with! She was fine, she does not mess with anything and the door was still able to be opened with the key in!

SomeCowgirl (2085) | 3 months ago | She sounds like a very smart little girl. I am glad that she is okay, but it's still strange how he was able to open it with the key being in the door. Very adventurous, you might want to watch out! Especially having brother's, she'll start being even more sneaky in no time!

6. ellie333 (4669) | 3 months ago | Oh and on your birthday too! Yes luckily for you your hubby came home eh! Yes I have gone out the front door to put the rubbish in the bin cupboard and my little angel has slammed door shut and even though he tried to let me back in he wasn't strong enough though. I had the patio doo open at the back of the house so I had to ask a neighbour to go through there garden and climb the fence into mine I always put key in my pocket now too. Ellie:D

7. nixxi76 (490) | 3 months ago | That must have been quite startling for you. I think the only time I've locked myself out of the house is when I thought my hubby had the keys and he didn't. We were going to the store when we were both already out of the house and when we got into the truck he asked me where the keys were and I said I thought he had them so we had to break in using one of our plastic cards in our wallet.. didn't want to use the credit card incase it broke lol. Have a good day

gemini_rose (7428) | 3 months ago | Not so much startling as more slapping my head in frustration for not realising that she was at THAT age! It was lucky that you could use a card to get in your house!

8. cinderella2007 (1196) | 3 months ago | I remember when we were younger we were locked out of the house (not sure how, as we were all out together!!) and luckily there was a window opened upstairs so my dad borrowed the slide from the people behind us and was able to wiggle in (in his fitter, healthier days!! lol) Hurrah, we all cheered and was glad to be let in!! I shall remember this story for when we have children, our door at the moment has a yale lock on, so when you close it,it is locked. Therefore I will have to make sure that i take my keys with me or turn the yale off when nipping out!!

gemini_rose (7428) | 3 months ago | Yes do remember it because all four of mine have now locked me out of the house at some point. I remember the first time I was in such a state, he would not open the door either because he thought he would be in trouble! I was outside for ages and it was raining.

10. metschica25 (3401) | 3 months ago | Thank you for sharing this story! I did the same thing to my mother when I was around 2 years old as well. She went outside and I locked the door and she could not get back in . She told me I thought it was a joke . After, about 10 mins of trying to get me to open up the door my mom went next door and phoned the cops . When they opened the door i was all natural, because i took my diaper off . My mom always loves talking about it .
