Have you ever eaten an orange from an orchard?

A couple years back, a guy in our neighborhood
(who owns an orchard) gave us a huge pile of fresh oranges
from his orchard. Those things were
delicious.
He said, that they were too ripe to
be sold at market or given to the juice plants.
They tasted fine. They were just right!
He had so many that he ended up giving everyone
in the neighborhood some.
They were so much better tasting than the junk you
buy in the grocery store.
I thought that I knew what a good orange tasted like until
I actually ate one fresh picked from an orchard that had
not been chilled (in the supermarket) or sitting in a bin
for ages.
Have you ever eaten fresh fruit or oranges from an orchard?

I have never eaten any orange straight from an orchard because most of our oranges are imported because we don't have just the climate for it to thrive and grow. I do understand though what you mean because fresh is always tasty. I remember when I was just a girl that I really love those fish that was just caught from the sea. They tasted so different from the one that we get to buy from the market that we thought that are fresh.

I lived in Florida for many years, so yes, indeed, I have tasted fresh oranges. In some parts of Florida, people don't like buying houses unless there are citrus trees on the lots. :-) At one house where we lived, we had orange trees, lime trees and grapefruit trees. We also had a banana tree growing close to the citrus trees...and the bananas tasted like a combination of banana and orange. How yummy. We had so many oranges and grapefruits that I used to call the local food pantry and have them come and pick up what we couldn't eat - to give to the poor.
In another house, we didn't have our own orange trees on our property, but there was a commercial orange grove behind our house. The owners told us that we could have any oranges that landed on the ground or that were left after the pickers came through.

I also have lived in Texas, and I like the taste of Texas citrus over Florida or California. Texas growers often don't try to make their fruits pretty - like they do in FL and CA. (Did you know that they put them through an acid wash and often put orange coloring on them to make them pretty?)

You are right, fresh fruit is fresh, in my garden we have Papaya. So delicious. It gave children I mean now there are a lot of papaya trees. I only sown few seeds from the fruit I bought from the market now that I have a big garden of Papaya trees. Many fruits, in abundant, so I distribute them in the colony, who ever comes to our house I give them papaya. I also send some to their family. Really fruits or flowers or any aromatic plants....if you grow in your home garden they not only give pleasant scene, we can share them with friends. Who ever comes to our house they enjoy our garden.

No kind soul has ever given me fresh oranges yet so wouldn't know the real test of fresh oranges from the orchard. I only got to taste those sold at supermarkets. I have a jackfruit tree behind my house which is bearing fruits all year round. I have to look for friends to give away the riped fruits.

Fresh fruit is so delicious. I wish you had some in your area, from a tree. It's phenomenal! I had a pecan tree in my yard many years ago and that was nice too. Those trees are huge!

I've never had oranges straight from the orchard. But when we lived in New York we when knew may people with farming property. Apples and pears where give to us galore and they where always great. Next was grapes and peaches. And then, of course loads and loads of veggies.
I miss having farming friends and neighbors.

That would be the dream life for me. I'm all about natural foods, it's so helpful especially with weight loss to have an abundance of fruits and veggies in the house.

actually no one has ever had an orange from a orchard. Oranges don't grow in Orchards...they grow in Groves. Now i have eaten apples from an orchard and they tasted awesome. But then i love apples too. great. now i want to make an apple pie. I attribute 10 pound of the weight ive gained on sitting on myLot. just kidding.

Last year I went to California to see my Uncle, he had an orange tree in his yard. He picked a few and said here try this orange. Oh my, that orange was so good. Your right, a fresh picked orange is out of this world. It was so tasty and juicy, nice and fresh.

I did, but it has been a long time ago, when I was living in San Diego. I like fresh peaches, right off the tree, or grapes as well. I have fruit growing at my place and it is good.

Yes I have eaten orange from the orchard. Not only orange but we ate mangoes, avocado, jackfruit, direct from the tree as we have them in our ground in my hometown. When we were small kids we go up the tree and pick up the fruits and sometimes eat the fruit on top of the tree. Do you know that we eat the outer portion or the skin of the magoes when it is still not ripe.
