Do you think Doctor Who is Getting Worse?

Some of the more recent episodes have been really awful, particularly last night's "Midnight" episode. The programme must have been half way though before anything happened and then what did happen, while it was an ok storyline, was not worth wasting an entire episode on. Are the creators running out of ideas? What do you think?

I agree entirely. I do think they are running out of ideas and it's time they had a competition for new writers who would be true to the quality we want from Dr Who.

It seems to me to be trundling along quite nicely - I quite liked "Midnight", it was a good claustrophobic episode. It would probably make a good stage play. As far as the season as a whole goes, I'll wait till the next episode before I pass judgement! I just watched "The Stolen Earth" the other night. Nice to see Sarah Jane, Martha and Torchwood back. I was never that keen on Rose, and I hope she's going to be the one to get it next week. In my opinion, Donna's the best companion the Doc's had for a while.

I must say that the latest episode had me wanting more. It was very good and I hope that the last episode is up to the same standard. I don't really like Donna as a companion. She's ok but I don't think she's the best. It was good to see Martha, Torchwood, etc. again.

Was that the one on the plane thingy? If so, even I didn't really like that one and I'm easily pleased. Maybe Catherine Tate had other filming commitments or the budget is running low? Maybe it's because the writer is leaving the show shortly.

Yes that was the one with the plane thingy. I don't think CT has been particularly inspirational in it at all to be honest but that episode seemed a bit pointless.

I watched Midnight last night anad I was not impressed. There really seemed to be no real plot, I mean there was but not really. An alien takes over a woman then goes away, what the heck was up with that? They never found out anything baout it, they probably will never go there again to explain anything, so to me the whole story line was pointless. On another note though, I'm kind of looking forward to the next three episodes. I just hope they are better then last nights.

That's more or less what I thought about Midnight. Nothing even happened until it was quite a way through either. Yes, the plot was ok with a sort of demon possession thing but it was not very Dr Who and I think it would have been better if the episode had started quicker and explained the monster. There was no reason for it to happen and I like there to be a reason! I won't spoil anything for you but the next episodes are a lot better in my opinion.:)

Russell T Davies who has done most of the writing since the revival is standing down and Stephen Moffat is taking over. He wrote The Empty Child - series one, two parter The Girl in the Fireplace - series two Blink - series three Silence in the Libray - series four I wasn't looking forward to Turn Left the next episode after Midnight because it doesn't have the doctor in but it wasn't that bad. The last episode of the series looks good though and brings to an end Russel T Davies input with the whole Bad Wolf Rose Tyler stuff. It also has everyone in it - Torchwood, Sarah Jane, Rose, Martha etc.

I must say, Turn Left wasn't too bad although I did hear a lot of hype about how scary it was meant to be and I don't feel it was scary up until the Bad Wolf bit at the end. I am looking forward to the next episode though. Hopefully, Mr. Moffat will do ok but I don't think anyone could successfully replace RTD.

Russell T Davies has done well but it's time he did step down as the episodes he wrote weren't that good a bit predictable and I thought Moffat did better.

No, I loved the Midnight episode; it was one of the especially dark episodes that comes along every so often. I really liked the idea of the creature who gradually learns more and more about you, then takes you over, and it was great how they showed this with the person's speech. I think the writers have been great, Russell T. Davies will be missed, but I'm sure that Stephen Moffat will do a stellar job as chief writer, especially as his episodes tend to be the darker ones. I don't think they're running out of ideas, I think they're getting better and better, and I can't wait until the Christmas special!!
