RED HAIR? Quick to anger?

or black or brown...blonde. There are many impressions that go around about attached to various hair colours. Those with hair for instance are thought to be fiery and quick to anger. Blondes have more fun - or do they. Brunettes are serious and studious. What colour hair do you have and do you find the stereotypes apply to you and those you know?

LOL...Did you know that red hair used to be also consider the hair color of witches??..hehe My hair is dark brown, and yes I can safely say I really am serious and studious. I once did dye my hair blonde and I looked hideous...so much for having "fun" as a blonde

Hehe...I have dark brown hair too, so that fizzles out the red hair theory of witches as well...and how about how Director Andrew Adamson choose a "blonde" for Chronicles of Narnia...heehee I like to think I'm like Jo of Little Women...since I like to think I'm multi-layered and faceted. I can be deadly serious to the point of being rather boring, but then I have my whimsical silly side.

Its good to have a good balance of both - and I think you definitely do. And she got Professor Baer and he definitly seems like a catch - from that book and the Jo's Boys series.

I would say that pre-conceived notion about witches is erroneous - after all, I have brown hair. :)-- Although I used to have strawberry brown hair. I probably would be considered studious, and in some things serious, but I'm also a prone to be bubbly and talkative and giggly as much as it doesn't match my image of myself - or the one I'd like. Serious, otherworldly beauty, not vaccuous. Instead, although not shallow, I can come off as simple, so that, unless someone really knows me, my dryer wit goes unoticed and people take what I say at face value always. And cute is the term I've gotten from friends and boyfriends alike rather then beautiful or gorgeous. Although I have gotten ethereal, but I think that's due to my past of not being quite connected and present always - daydreaming. Not sure. So if you've read little women, I'd like to be Jo, the one who was studious, intelligent, multi-layered and so interesting, but instead, I may more closely resemble my namesake, Amy. Although I don't follow fashion and such! You are serious and studious pye, and most serious about real issues that face important things like pets and how they're treated. However, I can see humor in much of what you post, like your witch reference.

I have not seen my hair colour for years, but as a child I had a reddish tint in my hair and I have always been very short tempered and explosive. I have blonde hair at the moment, although it is only borrowed out of a box, but I am not sure that I have more fun with it! My son who is 6 has a beautiful hair colour it is a golden reddish colour, it shines different colours in different lights. Some days it seems to be really red and some days it seems darker. People always comment on his hair, unfortunately he is very bad tempered and moody, but whether this is down to his hair colour or whether he is just like me, I know not!

I think so too. Not sure where they stem from though.

Well, my brother is a redhead and was quick to anger early in his life, but we broke him of that early--we were afraid he would get in a fight at school and hurt somebody. Now I am blonde, and if blondes have more fun then somebody out there is living a really sorry life. I also hate the ditsy blonde thing, but I have actually met some of those in my life. But overall, I tend to disagree with the haircolor stereotypes.

I disagree with them too. We shouldn't have pre-conceived judgements based on the colour of one's hair or skin but rather the colour of their heart.

My hair is brown naturally, but there are a lot of red head genes in my family, and I've been known to have a bit of a temper. But otherwise, yeah, I think I fit the stereotype for brunettes. Of course, right now, I've got sort of a dusty purple color on my hair, as the purple dye has faded out. I wonder what they say about girls with purple hair? :)

They probably say those with purple hair are comfortable with themselves and have a hint of fun tied in with seriousness. And maybe (this is my association with purple) they like the 80's and unicorns.

Yes...I believe that people sterotype you by your hair color. I am usually a blonde and get the brunt of the blonde jokes. While on vacation I got my hair dyed to a redish brown....and people do take you more seriously! Believe it or not!

That's so funny, you're the same person yet..I want to do something with my hair but know from experience with home mixes (getting only some hair not others!) I really need to go to a salon. I thought when really young that I would be naturally good at hair and makeup and nails as a girl - like it was some built in girl gene - but quickly found that no - not the case. LOL. I used to use work as an excuse to get a manicure (and the accompanying hand massage) and pedicure and nice makeup (sometimes hypoallergenic = expensives) and such but as a mom I can't justify the expense! I will soon be making my own money as a licensed childcare provider and may just go back to it. In the meantime anyone who wants to nominate me for a mom makeover - take away my pony tail and mom clothes please! Okay rambled enough!

Oh good question! Do you know the stereo types for those that are all bald? My husband shaved his head once and I liked it!

I don't either. It takes much to much energy to be angry.

well mine is snow white so do not know what sterotype that 'fits except old lady a term I hate, I am a senior citizen ' thank you very much. I have known blondes who outemper fit 'any red head I have ever met, and red heads who are very sweet and calm natured so I think we ought to get rid of the old sterotypes as they are outdated anyway.

Hear! Hear! Let's get rid of all forms of prejudice. Whether based on colour (of hair or skin), creed, religion or lifestyle choices that don't harm another (loves, collectors items, etc). My grandmother used to have snow white hair and I loved it, thought it just beautiful.
