Has ebay finally pulled their heads out of their @sses? |
|
It seems greedbay might finally began realizing that they are losing more sellers than they initially thought.
I am sure you all got this in your email:
"Seller Update: confident buyers, more seller rewards We're working hard to give sellers the best deal on the Internet. Towards this end, we're making changes to improve the eBay experience and some of these changes may have an impact on your selling.
1. Rewards for sellers with high buyer satisfaction. You're delivering great buyer experiences and we're taking our commitment to reward sellers to new levels:
* Improved PayPal seller protection for all US sellers registered on eBay.com * Advantage in Best Match search results for more sellers * New benefits for PowerSellers
2. Confident, satisfied buyers: We're making changes to help ensure buyers enjoy shopping on eBay and can buy with confidence--which will make the marketplace more robust for sellers.
* Buyer protection--"Pay with PayPal and you're covered." See eligibility.
* Making eBay safer: New safety measures include keeping member email addresses anonymous, controls on user-generated "active" content, stronger verification of new sellers, and verifying the identity of sellers listing from an unrecognized computer.
* Better shopping experience: Redesigned item page with bigger pictures, countdown timer, more merchandise, and critical seller information right upfront.
For more details on how these changes affect your selling, watch a webcast replay of the keynote speech from eBay Live!, and read recent announcements from eBay executives."
Although I do like some of what they are saying.. I still refuse to go back to selling until/if they straighten out a lot more things that they have screwed up.
If you have stopped selling on greedyfeepay all together.. did this email entice you to go back.. or are you like me and have a "wait and see attitude?"
If you never stopped selling are you fhappy with these changes?

11. jerzgirl (2783) | 2 years ago | I stopped selling altogether when they raised all the fees for stores only because the auction sellers were griping saying it was unfair. I'm still not sure how it was unfair since there was little promotion for buyers to find things in stores unless you also used an auction to sell a store item. I get emails periodically (free photos, reduced listing fees, etc), but I don't recall getting this one. It will have to be something special to have me sell on eBay again, although I might still buy. I have a 100% feedback rating, so it's not that I couldn't. I just don't think it's worth it any more.

dizzblnd (1127) | 2 years ago | It isn't worth the time and effort a seller store or not, puts into doing everything it takes to try and please someone, when they can neg you because they know you can't retaliate. I think all of there changes are sad. I do like, however that they increased security if you sign in to a different computer that is not your usual IP address. They will make you confirm your identity. Even though I am sure hackers will find away around that as well.. for now.. it makes me feel better about leaving my account open, but idle. I haven't bought or sold on there since Feb. I won't buy because I know how much of the sellers' hard earned $$ goes into greedbay/payoutthe@sspals pockets. Good for you for sticking to yor guns and not selling.

12. mscott (1751) | 2 years ago | Funny how losing business gets them to do things they should have been doing. I was actually ripped off by a buyer, yes a buyer, and I have heard of this happening more and more. It would be nice that they finally added some seller protection. They have such a monopoly on the industry they could do so much more volume if they had decent policies. For a long time I figured they just didn't care cause they make money every which way, listings, selling, paying whatever. I would like them to also address the shipping fees issues. When I saw a guy listing every single item he had for buy it now 1 cent I thought something was up. Sure enough 1 cent buy it now, 19.99 shipping. The whole feedback thing was another joke that has turned me off to selling. If you buy you can leave a positive feedback but give the sellers a 1 for each quality rating. And why not? If it lowers their score it drops them on how the listing appears and if you sell similar stuff then you are knocking down the competition. Wow, I need to stop, to much to complain about.

|
dizzblnd (1127) | 2 years ago | You are right there IS too much to complain about. I hope they finally got tired of hearing about it, and this is why some of the changes are being implemented. But like you, I wont be happy until/if they either do away with the DSR's or let sellers rate the buyers in the same way. Also, they need to put the feedback rating system the way it was, make some of the extra crap free (like some of their competitors) and care equally about the sellers AND the buyers. (Yeah right)

13. moonlitmagikchild (7151) | 2 years ago | even though i am thinking about ebaying again i delete all their emails since half the time its a scam anyways (spam trying to trick) but it doesnt seem much different than it already was.. but im reading this half asleep too

|
|
dizzblnd (1127) | 2 years ago | lol... well.. even half asleep.. you got the gist.. it is not a WHOLE let better than it was.. but its a start. It still hasn't convinced me to go back though A LOT of other sh!t has to change before this former seller goes back.

moonlitmagikchild (7151) | 2 years ago | one thing i really was upset with ebay on is that i bought this book from a guy and it showed perfect condition.. i get it and its all tore up.. so i dispute it through paypal and the guy was trying to tell me to return the book and i told him i wasnt going to talk to him outside of the paypal thing and to settle it through there since i wanted to not deal with him lying to me since he had obviously decieved me through the sale and i had never done a dispute before but i figured that all communication should be through there.. well anyways we agreed that he would refund my money and he said he didnt want the book back because of the problem etc.. well a few days later he rates me badly saying i didnt hold up to my end of the deal and i replied to the rate stating that paypal settled it and he said keep the book etc.. well that one bad comment has kept me from being 100% for years now!! i have never even had a neutral but i have had like 300 ratings and im just now at 98 or 99.. i have been a buyer/seller since the year 2000 and so i think they went a little too far in keeping the bad rating when i could prove that we settled it and then for it to keep hurting me this whole time is bs if you ask me!! im paranoid about buying anything since im afraid i will get something screwed up and then get retaliated against again.. grrrr..

dizzblnd (1127) | 2 years ago | Yeah... sellers like that need to be booted from ebay. It is a shame you had to deal with that. Although it is too late to do so now.. you could have appealed the negative and had it removed and neutralized.
| |
|
|
moonlitmagikchild (7151) | 2 years ago | yeah but it would still show that something bad was going on wouldnt it?
| |
|
|
dizzblnd (1127) | 2 years ago | it would... but the negative feedback would have been neutralized.. thus keeping your%100 feedback score

| 14. ashlee67 (80) | 2 years ago | I received this email, but didn't find it to be all that informative. Then again, I am only an occasional eBay seller. I'm still waiting for another listing discount so I may put some more auctions up. Between eBay fees, and PayPal fees, my earnings are cut drastically.

dizzblnd (1127) | 2 years ago | I didn't get too much out of the email either.. except that they are beginning to re-think what they have done. I have been p!ssed at the fees for a while. Even their "discounts" don't lure me back

I've been dabbling with other sites like loudfrog.com and elfingo.com. Hopefully I will be able to research other sites.
