Just like the song says Where having a heat wave a wonderful heat wave NOT Here in the our town we got to 105F yesterday. We usually do not get to these temperatures till July or August. If we have them the middle of June what is July and August going to be like?
I am not angry but I am hot.
Yes I do have a swimming pool and it is refreshing, but once you get out of the water you get hot all over again. I am getting a great tan. I have not gotten sun burned I do not stay out that long and if I am going to be in the sun that long I will use sun block.
I am not sleeping because it is so hot. I have been waking up at night to going out and skinning dipping just to cool off. I got up a 3:30am and stayed awake so I could open up all the doors and windows just to help cool off the house.
It only got down to 70F degrees this morning and the high today is forecast to be 106F the temp at our local airport is 99 degree and it is only 12:15 Pacific time. We continue to heat up till 6pm.
I feel sorry for the people who do not have air conditioning or cannot afford PG&E. We have an air conditioner but try not to run it very much. Every time the air conditioner turns on I see dollar signs go down the drain. I feel I might as well just take my money and put it down the garbage disposable.
It is 12 o'clock and I was eating ice cream because I am sitting at my computer in my thin cotton night gown hot. My question is what do you eat when it is hot? I tend to eat light foods or all cold foods. We had chicken sandwiches and green salad for dinner last night. What did you have for dinner last night?

Wow those are some really high temps. I don't know that I coild deal with them.
I'm a cook in a retirement home so I have to make a big meal for lunch, but at night they have light stuff like sandwiches, eggs, french toast etc.
At home I will have either a sandwich or a burrito, something light, and something I don't have to cook.
I don't mind running my air conditioner, it cost me less than heating my house in winter.

I hate using the heater in the winter. I set it at 65 degrees F. We are having our first grand child so I am sure we are going to have to turn the heater up when the baby is over. I hope we have the baby over a lot.

Right now, it's 100 degrees and 90 in my apartment. I've been running the AC for two hours and the temperature has actually gone up! I usually like it hot, though, but my computer was giving me a hard time. However, I cleaned out the dust in the heat sink and it's running a lot better. You just reminded me about the pool, perhaps I will go for a night time swim if no one else is using it.

I think there must be some thing wrong with your air conditioner if it had been running for 2 hours and getting hotter in your house.
I find taking a dip and sitting under the ceiling fans damp really helps keep me cool.

It's just a room air conditioner that sits in the direct sun for half the day. It's extremely old, but I can't do anything about it as I rent my place and the AC is putting out plenty of cold air. It just gets that hot in my place because I get full, direct sun from about 1PM to 7PM.
I don't have a ceiling fan and, like I said, I can't put one in because it's not a place that I own.

Wow, all the Californians are out this evening posting on Mylot. I'm not far from the beach, but its hot here. My house feels like a sauna. I completely understand the dollar signs going down the drain. Its really hard to sleep.
I know this is crazy, but this is what I had for dinner. Its a sandwich, which is easy to make.

What part of CA are you from I am in the Central San Joaquin Valley. Near Fresno.

I know thats nothing compared to the heat in Trinidad. We never get temperatures like that. 100 degrees is unknown over here.
We did, however, have very hot weeks this past two weeks and it all came down on Friday when it rained in a torrent all day into the night.
Thats what happens here in Trinidad. A period of sticky heat then a downpour. We have tropical rainforest here and there are mountains at the back of Port of Spain which causes a lot of rain in the city.
I'd hate to go through 100 degrees.
That must be murder !

At least we do not have humidity you have. We think it is humid if it gets up to 24%. I have been in Mexico when they have the down pours. When you say down pour they really mean downpour. Here in CA we only have an average of 11 inches of rain a year and did not get that for the last few years we are in drought conditions.

We had a heat wave two week ago. It was ridiculously hot and humid. We never get this kind of weather so early in Jersey. It's usually August when that type of humidity comes around. It really came to us as a surprise. And on top of that we've had several really bad thunderstorms. I don't like sleeping in the heat, it's so uncomfortable. Ice cream helps out a lot, lol. And lots of cold soda.

If I remember correctly, you live in California and my is it ever hot out here. As soon as I step out of the shower, my forehead is dripping with sweat. I am near the beach. My roommate is spending the weekend in Santa Clarita with her twin and her mother. She said that it is 108F out there. I believe it was about 96 out here today.
I spent a good part of my teen years in the San Fernando Valley, so this is not so bad yet, but it is getting there. I have noticed that the older I get, the easier I sweat. Oh cool, I made a rhyme, hehe.

The older I get the less I can tolerate the heat. I do not understand that. I wish was not such a whinny when it comes to the heat. I have a friend who can tolerate the heat it does not bather her. She does have breathing problems and cannot tolerate the wind.

I've been hearing how hot it is in your area...We had our own heat wave a few weeks ago and it was unbearable..thankfully we've cooled down a bit, but for the full week we had our heat wave, I got no work done as I was like a complete zombie...heavens I couldn't even think straight! Also, I don't have AC..lovely...even if I did have ac I don't want my electric bill to be sky high....it's high enough as it is!
On hot days/nights like that, I live on salads...usually at night when it's cooled down a bit, I make homemade potato, macaroni salads, then tuna and serve with romaine lettuce as well and then have a nice dinner that lasts me a few nights--it keeps me from cooking every night so I don't heat up the apt. And of course, I drink gallons of liquids...hehe
How do your kitties and Petrie bear it...or does Abagail dunk herself in the fountain...LOL

Abagail lays under a bush and sleeps in the shade all day and then drinks in the fountain or pool when she is awake. Petie stays in the house as much as possible. When he is really hot I will take him in the pool with me. I do not let him go to swim he is to frightened. I keep him at my side. I then dry him off some and then he is so much cooler. He tends to be mad at me for a little while. heehee. Sammy just stays in the house and sleeps a lot.
