George Carlin dead at 71 on june 23, 2008.
George Carlin offers some things to think about in your spare time:
1. Does the Little Mermaid wear an algebra?
2. Do infants enjoy infancy as much as adults enjoy adultery?
3. How is it possible to have a civil war?
4. If God dropped acid, would he see people?
5. If one synchronized swimmer drowns, do the rest drown too?
6. If you ate pasta and antipasta, would you still be hungry?
7. If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?
8. Why are hand basket called "hand basket" instead of "assteroids"?
9. Why is it called tourist season if we can't shoot at them?
10. Why is the alphabet in that order? Is it because of that song?
11. Where are we going? And what's with this hand basket?
12. If the "black box" flight recorder is never damaged during a plane crash,
why isn't the whole damn airplane made out of that stuff?
13. Why is there an expiration date on sour cream?
14. If man evolved from monkeys and apes, why do we still have monkeys and apes?
15. The main reason Santa is so jolly is because he knows where all the bad girls live.
16. I went to a bookstore and asked the sales woman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
17. If all those psychics know the winning lottery numbers, why are they all still working?
18. Should crematoriums give discounts for burn victims?
19. If a mute swears, does his mother wash his hands with soap?
20. Whose cruel idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have a "S" in it.
These are some of the reasons why so many loved his humor. Is there any act or show that you enjoyed That george Carlin did?

I loved his jokes on old people and Catholics. Those always made me laugh. I lived with my grandmother, who was a heavy Catholic, and so, I always loved those jokes.

It was, but he did it because he was born and raised a Catholic and was sick of the church, who could blame him? I too left the church.

I'm really going to miss hearing George Carlin's humor. He always put a lot of thought into his routines, and sometimes it'd just make you stop and think. Like your list in the original post...makes you stop and look at phrases a different way. I used to have a lot of his stuff on albums, haven't got any on cd's though. I used to have his '7 words' album, man, that was on the edge humor when he first came out with it. While I don't use those words myself, it was still really hilarious just because of the way he presented it.

Exactly the point he had a way off making you think about what he was saying and he was good at it while making it funny.

I respect, quite deeply, all the people that have landmarked my era in this life.
They are the gems of my time on earth.
I wish to express my sympathy with all those who loved George.
I was one of them.
I only saw him briefly on cable TV but an icon is an icon and he is part of my bit of life here.
We can never replace them. Others can only try to do the same.
Goodbye George.

LOL those were great Carlin is the best ever IMO. No one came close to him if you ask me other than Pryor. There was him and Pryor then there is everybody else. This world is a lot emptier and less funny since his passing.
