Its called the STS-128 Smart Car and its 100% electric. It has a rechargeable lithium battery as its power source. It was originally developed with Nasa. I would assume these are probably the cars of the future since theirs no fuel involved. Unlike hybrids these cars require no gas what so ever.

I have not heard of the car you mentioned but it seems like a very good idea if you ask me,because you could go farther on electricity then you can on gas, without having to pay out the rearend,I think they should also make it so the battery gets recharged by the sun, because then it could go even farther.

This is the first I heard of Walmart coming out with this type of vehicle, or any vehicle for that matter. It sounds like a great concept. I am curious to see if Walmart will be "rollin' back the prices" on this little baby..LOL

Walmarts coming out with it? I didnt know they were in the car design business. I wonder what they will come out with next? I think electric cars will be here before you know it though we desperately need to have cars that run on something besides oil.

Wow - this sounds really cool. I wonder how much a car like this is going to cost and how large and safe it would be. Although it sounds incredible, will it just run on a battery? How much electricity will it take to charge this type of battery? That will probably run up our electricity bills right? That is great - hope they introduce it soon!

Its just suppose run on a lithium battery. From what i'm hearing rechargeing it will be much more affordable than gasoline. I heard their planing on building up recharging stations for the new car. Its like gasoline stations but you recharge with electricity instead

The thing with this type of car is how long will it run off of the battery before needing recharged? We live 35 min. from town and my husband works an hours drive away from here. An electric car would be okay (until electricity costs go up)if you could depend on getting from point a top point b and back without sitting on the roadside needing a charge.

I heard about the car, but I was doing something else and not paying much attention to the TV. I wasn't aware Walmart was going to be selling it. I guess with the lithium battery it would run a good long time, but is the battery rechargeable? If it's lithium probably not. And replacing the battery would be expensive. I had intended to research this further, but I got sidetracked. Thanks for bringing it up.
