Thank goodness for friends! My family ran low on food and a friend gave us pasta

-lots and lots of spaghetti noodles. Plus sauce. For some reason, we all will be having a lot less money in July. So this really comes in handy. She gave us 10 packages of spaghetti noodles, that's what she had lots of extra. Do you have lots of pasta at your home? When people run low on food, do you give them pasta and sauce? When I was younger, a friend of mine needed food and all I had in the house was pasta and sauce, so I gave her and her family some. This is a different friend, but it's funny what goes around comes around. Thanks and take care.

Interesting, rice and water. Rice does feed a lot of people. I will be cooking pasta at least once a week now, maybe more. Thanks for your response, Take care.

That's wonderful! Sounds like a very nice church group to do that for you. Hospital bills and medication bills are very, very expensive. That's great! Thank you very much for your response, maybe others will think to help out like that some time.

We always have pasta noodles in the house and I make my own sauce so I do keep the other ingredients on hand. I can remember a time or two one of our kids was struggling so I took her to the store and let her buy whatever she needed. She was financially strapped at the time. I would do this for friends as well if they were in neeed. Thank goodness I've never personally been in this kind of situation but if it was to happen, I do have close friends who would help me out. And you are right, whatever goes around comes around.

It happens to many people and I usually give something without making a big fuss about it. I know how it is not to have food. When I was trying to be a rock star in the big city, I only had one gig in a week and I would try to make my money last by eating only once a day. Those were terrible times. I know what hunger feels like.

First writer, I know what hunger feels like, too. I felt badly in the past that I only had one meal to give to people who told me they had no food. One of my friend's hair fell out and I asked what was wrong with her. She was only eating 1 meal every other day so her kids could eat, she had 7 children and no one would help her. Her husband made 45 thousand a year, so they told her to go after him (he left for a younger chick). She tried that, but Social Services said would take 4 to 6 weeks to track him down and get something. Meanwhile, they ran out of food and didn't qualify for anything accept 3 days worth of food from a food shelf. I'm amazed at the friend I have now that she had 4 boxes of food extra. I have had all I can do to have one meal extra most of my life. Second writer: a person can look fat, but have a distended stomach. I've seen pictures of children starving and they are skin and bones except for a distended belly.

Wow, that is so great that you have such generous friends to give you plenty of food! Ten packages of spaghetti, I would be in 7th heaven! I actually currently have about 3 packages of pasta: little shells, penne, and spaghetti. No sauce though. Hope you enjoy the pasta.

We made spaghetti Monday night, the leftover sauce and some rice we made chili last night with some beans she had given us, too. We are enjoying it, thank you.

My husband worked with a man who was only eating one meal a day. He couldn't afford more. I was working at a Farmer's Market as a baker. I had my husband bring left over food that we couldn't eat to work with him. The man was very thankful.

What goes around comes around. It most certainly did for you. I haven't given food to someone specifically in awhile. The last time I gave food was for the post office food drive where you give the mail carrier bags of groceries. Everything extra in my cupboards went. I like to think I will get similar help if I ever need it.

I hope in a similar situation, you will also receive food if you need it. Right now even people who are lower middle class qualify for food stamps because many people have to make a choice between putting gas in their cars and food on the table. It isn't even winter yet. Thanks for responding and take care.
