 I was wondering if anyone has had any experience wih stock photography sites. I have searched and found some that seem reputable but I don't know.
Has anyone had a good experience with a stock photography site. If so could you please post here with the name of the company or link, or send me a message.
I would really appreciate it.

| 2. desertdarlene (5843) | 1 year ago |  I have applied and sent work to at least one or two, but haven't had anything get accepted. People who I know are successful with stock photography sites are those who can afford and have room for professional photography equipment, programs, software, etc. I just don't have the money or the room to store any of that stuff. Stock photography businesses look for a very specific type of photography that most people don't do. It doesn't mean that most people aren't good photographers, there are a lot of photographers who are great who would get rejected from those sites. It's just that they want things in a very specific way.

When I first started selling stock, the only camera I had was a cheap point and shoot digital camera. Within a year, I had earned enough from selling my photos on stock websites to buy myself a DSLR camera. I've also used my stock earnings to buy more photography equipment.

And, I know of a lot of other people who have won awards who have gotten all of their photos rejected from stock agencies, too. So, we must all be pretty bad. | |

| 4. Pigglies (5011) | 1 year ago |  I've been selling photos on BigStockPhoto for over 2 years now. I've found they'll accept photos that other stock photography places will not. I don't have many photos up, but I've made over $200 now.

Or if you like being paid by check, they'll pay by check once you reach $50 if you request to be paid by check. It usually only takes a day to get paid once you request payment, they're really good with that. | |

Whenever I need a stock image I find it on deviantART.com, the only thing is that the owner of the image makes the usage rules, and some people only allow their photo to be used on deviantART itself.

| 8. rabi9634 (411) | 1 year ago |  Try Alamy. I tried Shutterstock without truly understanding how the market worked, and regret everything about it. The only thing it proved was that there was indeed a market for my images. 25 cents isn't nearly enough for what you're giving up.
Alamy has made me a lot more money than Shutterstock or any other microstock ever did, and my images aren't being used to death to reach that profit.
I'm hoping to use Alamy as a long term earner. I have about 1300 images approved, but only about 600 keyworded.
