Is anyone an amateur weather watcher or have a household member that is one?

So does anyone have someone in their household like I do? My hubby and I both love to watch storms. My husband is worse though and sometimes drives me nuts!
Whenever he sees a storm that is coming thru our area on the Weather Channel, he immediately goes into weather watcher mode. He'll get on the internet to his favorite weather sites and analize the storm. He is in a constant frenzy watching the storms prgression on the internet, going out side to watch the sky, see the lightning, see how much it is raining and it goes on and on. Then when it is all over, if's it's been a particularly bad storm or strong winds, he gets in his truck and goes and checks on the damage.
I love storms too, but I am more content to watch the storm's prgression on the weather channel.
What about you?

I was like your husband, but add to the list of internet weather sites, weather channel, a scanner and a pager. I was a Skywarn Weather Spotter for 4 years. So I pretty much needed to know what direction storms were headed and how they were acting in case we got paged out to go out in the field and watch for approaching thunderstorms, straightline winds and yes, even tornados. I still watch the skys when storms are approaching, although it's a bit different in the northeast than it was in Central Texas.

I guess I pay a bit more attention to storms now since my house sustained alot of damage in March when a tornado burst through our neighborhood. I was pretty upset by
all the damage and the ensuing reconstruction. In retrospect it actually was the best thing thta could have happened becaue I was able to get new furniture, a new roof and a new floor. i actually lucked out.

I love to watch storms too! Yesterday we were up in Chenango County NY at our cabin and witnessed the most incredible lightning storm. It was actually frightening. In all my years, I have never seen a scarier sight. (long time) It reminded me of July 4th finale, it was neverending. SOme bolts came close enough to make your hair feel electrified. THen, there were the thunder claps. Instantaneous! The storm settled over our cabin, that overlooks a huge valley of rolling hills, for hours. Today, the air was a crisp and clean like never before.
Incredible powers in nature, If only the energy could be harvested. We'd never have to buy gas again!
