Such is Life |
|
If you could view life through the eyes of another person for one day, a 24-hour period, who would it be? (You wouldn’t become that person for a day, but you’d see things as they see them.) Why would you choose this person? What would be the results?

JJ4Ever (703) | 5 months ago | Good answer! I never thought of that, but what an excellent idea and very kind of you to try to help her. I truly believe that's what she needs, a good friend and someone who cares about her enough to tell it like it is and not beat around the bush letting her make a fool of herself. I'm sure she'd appreciate your friendship and kindness. Great response and thanks a bunch!

| 2. failsafe_o5 (91) | 5 months ago | do you know the movie Being John Malkovich directed by Spike Jonze? your question is like that movie's plot only reduce the time to 3 minutes... i love that film. anyway, if i could see life from another person's eyes i'd choose the first stranger i meet on the street. just because it would be as real as anything or anyone else's. i usually play that game in my head, looking at other people from across the street or waiting in line and then try to figure out what they could be thinking about? how do they feel about their life? what is important to them...?

JJ4Ever (703) | 5 months ago | I've heard of the movie, but haven't seen it nor did I know the plot when I started this discussion. Very interesting! I'm glad you mentioned that. I guess it's just ironic that I'd start this discussion in that case. I know what you mean about seeing a person you don't know and wondering what they're thinking and what makes them tick. I try to do that a little bit myself. When someone lashes out at me, I have to step back, take a deep breath, and wonder why in the worle they would do something like that. I have to take a minute to try to see the world from their perspective. Believe it or not, it really helps! I know they're not lashing out at me but because of something that happened to them or something they felt inside. If more people could react to others this way, I know the world would be a better place. That's why I really like your response. You seek to find out about as many people as you can. If it's a stranger's perspective you'd want to see through for a day, I'm positive you'd learn a million more things about life by the end of that 24-hour period. Thanks for taking the time to respond!

3. Transdisc (16001) | 5 months ago | I suppose I would choose the current President of the USA so that, somehow, I could have some inkling of just what/ why in the heck this guy does what he does. I am certainly at a loss as to the workings of this guy. Unfortunately, I fear that such an exercise would simply be a day of my life wasted.

JJ4Ever (703) | 5 months ago | Your response makes me think that'd I'd want to see through the eyes of any president while they were in office...doesn't matter which one...because seeing things from their perspective with all of the responsibilities on their plate would probably get really hectic in no time. I give all of the presidents a lot of credit for taking on the position in the first place. That's not to say I agree with everything they do. I've wondered the same things as you before and sometimes quite often! The funny thing is, I always make sure I vote in the presidential election so that if I don't like the outcome, I officially have a right to complain because I actually did vote! (LOL) Does that sound fair? Ha, ha. Thanks for your response, Trans. It's always a pleasure to hear from you.

|
Transdisc (16001) | 5 months ago | I used to buy into that theory, too. I still vote, but I no longer believe not voting doesn't give someone the right to complain. I bet THAT sounds weird, eh?
| |
|
|
JJ4Ever (703) | 5 months ago | LOL - I guess it could go either way. We as Americans are going to complain no matter what we do or what the government does since it seems to do whatever it wants anyway. Without getting into too much politics, I suppose I'm just one of those people that sees things coming and then see them happen...I'm prepared for the worst ahead of time so it doesn't phase me when it does happen. No matter what my opinion or what I'd choose in a situation, there's always going to be someone who doesn't like it. That's a fact of life. You can't please everyone. A person who can and does please everyone has yet to make an appearance. I agree with you, though. I'd still complain whether I voted or not. I really appreciate your feedback.

4. justpeachie (213) | 5 months ago | I think I would like to view life through my daughter's eyes. Simply because I love her so much and I want her to be happy and lead a fulfilling life. If I could see the world as she does I would know what she needs and what her expectations from life are. I could pray for her more closely. I could offer more support and encouragement in areas where she needs it most. I would be able to better help her to deal with disappointments and maybe understand her better. We never really know people as we think we do, no matter how close we are to them. I would just like to help make her life easier.

JJ4Ever (703) | 5 months ago | Excellent response! I absolutely love your attitude because you're looking out for the well being of your daughter even before your own needs. That's the way a true parent thinks, and I commend you! I couldn't agree with you more and have to quote what you stated again because I liked it so much, "We never really know people as we think we do, no matter how close we are to them." That's a great theme statement for this discussion! Although you can't literally look through your daughter's eyes and see what she sees for a day, I hope you get to know her better than you ever have so that, like you said, you'll know how to love and cherish her, pray for her, and better provide for her needs. That's such an unselfish act on your part, and I wish you the utmost blessings for your beautiful wish that you expressed in this discussion. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. Take care and have a wonderful day!

JJ4Ever (703) | 5 months ago | Thanks, Marketing. If I had to choose, I'd want to see the world through my fiance's perspective for more than one reason. First of all, I'm a woman so I'd want to know how a man thinks. Second, he's my fiance whom I'm going to marry someday, so I'd better understand him in order to have a happy and successful marriage. Great answer! Have a great day, my friend.

6. dumblnddzzy (8826) | 4 months ago | I would choose a homeless person, so I could see life thru their eyes. It would humble me to no end. Then I could be even more understanding of them than I am now. I always make it a point to talk to a homeless person if I run into them on the street. They are people too & NEED Human contact also. It really makes their day when I take time to listen to them....Lori

JJ4Ever (703) | 4 months ago | What a down-to-earth experience this truly would be. For those of us who've had an easier life than a homeless person, it'd be a realy eye-opener, just as you said. I think I'd choose the same as you because it'd change the rest of my life forever. We so many times take everything we have for granted, of course, not denying the fact that we all go through hard times. We've been there and done that in certain instances...but to live with nothing all your life...phew! That'd be quite a stretch. I really appreciate your humility in considering what it'd be like to see life through someone else's eyes. I think you'd have some excellent lessons to pass along to all of us after your experience. Thanks, Lori. You're a wonderful person!

7. SViswan (3853) | 4 months ago | I usually can see life through the eyes of my alomost 8 year old...I've been doing it since he was a baby and it has worked wonderfully for me. hmm...let me think of an adult.....should it be a famous personality or someone I know? lol...going by my last few discussions, I'd really like to see life through the eyes of the Principal of my school. Though she has changed a lot in the last 5 years that I've known her....it's hard to see how she views life. I find her talking so much about her concerns towards children and she doesn't spend time with the 3 she has. Her words are very inspiring....but I find her lacking on the action bit and I'd really like to know how she really thinks.

JJ4Ever (703) | 4 months ago | I'm sorry, but this is quite odd! I believe this is the third or fourth time I've attempted to leave a comment on your response. I want you to know that I read and enjoyed it, of course! It's always a wonderful thing to see life through your child's eyes because it really helps in figuring out what they're thinking and why they do what they do. Having not been blessed with children...yet...(LOL) I'm not exactly sure what a parent must see, but I'm sure I'll be there soon! As far as your answer, I think your choice is amazing. I'd definitely be interested in seeing life through the principal's eyes as well. How odd...her situation...or rather, the situation she's set up for herself. It doesn't quite make sense. I think it'd certainly answer a lot of questions to see things from her eyes for a 24-hour period. Thanks so much for your response. Take care and have a wonderful day!

8. dpk262006 (5877) | 4 months ago | I think it is difficult to view life through other's eyes. Yet, if given the chance, I would like to view the life through the eyes of my wife. She keeping telling me that there is always scope for learning and improvement, provided you have the will. Sometimes I agree with here and sometimes I do not. I would like to view the situation, when I do not come to an agreement with her, how does anger start building in her mind, towards my resistence.....LOL!

JJ4Ever (703) | 4 months ago | Great answer! (LOL) Very interesting also. I've been told many times that men have a difficult time understanding us women sometimes (if not all the time!) I know it can seem quite odd at times why we do what we do, but that's why I like your answer. Seeing life through your wife's eyes for a day will definitely teach you a lot and will reveal to you more about her. I don't think spouses could learn enough about one another...even in a lifetime. Great choice, my friend. Thanks so much for sharing!

9. hellcowboy (3835) | 4 months ago | If I could view life through someones eyes for a twenty four hour period I would have to choose my fiance, because I would love to see how she looks at things, and how she looks at me,and plus it would make us closer because if I could see how she sees things, and think the way she does, just like if she saw things the way I see them, and thought the way I do,then we would understand each other even better.

JJ4Ever (703) | 4 months ago | Your choice is the same as mine. I want to see life through my fiance's eyes as well because sometimes I just don't understand him! (LOL) I think it'd help in bringing us closer too. When something happens, we'd already know how the other person would handle it and why they do those things we just don't get. It makes the most sense of anything to see life through the eyes of the person you're closest to because they're your life and the person you see and talk to the most. Why not? I think it's a great choice! Thanks so much for sharing and have a great day!

hellcowboy (3835) | 4 months ago | Again great minds think alike lol,and yeah if you could see the way the person you love would handle a situation then you would know what to do to keep an argument or fight from happening, and I am glad you like my choice, and I wish other people thought the same way,and I am always happy to share my opinions with you my friend, and I look forward to responding to you in the future, have a great day, good luck in your life, and Happy Posting.

JJ4Ever (703) | 3 months ago | I agree with you completely. Yes, it sure has been a while since I was a child! (LOL) I think it'd be a good reminder of where we came from to go back and see life through the eyes of an innocent child, what it was like when we didn't have to pay bills, take care of a house or even a family, have kids, etc. I'd actually really like to go back to being a child for maybe a day! (LOL) I think this would definitely be a good exercise for all of us. Thanks, Secret Bear!
