Do You Go To the Movies or Rent Videos? |
|
My husband and I went to the movies tonight to see "Hancock". I actually enjoyed myself very much. I had no seat kickers sitting behind me and the movie was better than expected. However, it is a rare occasion that we actually go to a movie. In our area, movies are over ten dollars a person. We often opt to stay home and get a movie from Video On Demand. It's still cost money, but we have a big screen tv so it's worth spending the $4.99 per movie as opposed to going out, spending money on gas, popcorn and tickets which could run up to forty bucks. Do you prefer seeing a movie in the theater or would you rather stay home and rent a movie?

3. kimberlylynn (581) | 5 months ago | I would rather go out and get the whole experience. It always seems like a movie is better - funnier, scarier, or more romantic on the big screen. Plus when it's so hot, it gives us something to do for a little relief and the kids feel like it is something special. I want to see Ma Ma Mia so badly!

4. ycanteye (460) | 5 months ago | Although I do like the popcorn in the theater we chose to watch the movies at home only we wait until they come out on DVD and then purchase them. Some we buy new if its one we're really anxious to see but otherwise we wait until we can pick up a used copy.

5. Reesers (663) | 5 months ago | It's not often I go to the theatre anymore because, as you said, it's gotten a bit ridiculous with the pricing. But if it's a movie I really want to see, I'll go to the theatre to see it. And when I do, I always try to go to the matinee when it's cheaper. In fact, our movie theatre has what they call the early bird, which is usually the first showing of the day. My mom and I went to see Mamma Mia! today and it was half what we would have paid if we had waited until tonight. If it's a movie that I'm so-so about, then I'll wait until it comes out on DVD and add it to my Netflix list.

7. penny64 (515) | 5 months ago | I normally don't have time to see movies until they are on free to air tv. Then I can still get things done during the ads. If I really want to see something, I'll go to the movies, but it is a big treat. We do buy movies we think we will enjoy, but normally later when they are not so expensive. I used to rent videos years ago, but haven't rented for a long, long time.

wachit14 (3244) | 5 months ago | I've seen that Redbox movie dispenser in the grocery store. I didn't realize it was really that cheap though. A Dollar is really pretty good to see a relatively new movie.

10. hellcowboy (3835) | 5 months ago | Today my parents took me and my fiance out for my fiances birthday which was last Tuesday, and she had the choice to either go to the movie theater if there was a movie she wanted to see,or go to the video store, and rent a couple movies, she decided to go to the movie store, which I think was a good choice, because my parents got six great movies for the price of what one would have cost at the theater,so I would say I much rather stay at home and rent a movie on DVD because not only is it cheaper but it is more convenient if you ask me.
