paypal is evil!!! |
My paypal got limited a few days ago. They sent me an email saying that i account was limited because they need further verification. I have already got my bank account verified and i have been with them for around a year now. I can't receive, send or transfer any money to my bank account. I have $10 in my paypal account and another $70 was meant to be coming in the next month!!! This is complete nonsense!!! I have done nothing wrong!!! I have also sent many emails to them asking them why my account needs further verification but they only sent we a message saying what having a limited account means! Which i wasn't the question i asked them. I tried again but they sent me the exact same message! I can't even get my money that i earned fair and square for that is in my paypal account. However, as i did a quick google search i also found out that i am not the only one... I have heard other stories whereby the same thing happened to other people and their accounts got permanently deleted and paypal took all their money. I can't even open up a new account and add my bank account to it because then paypal will know and limit my new account as well. Has a similar thing happened to you?

Barb42 (880) | 1 month ago | Hopefully, gloam hasn't been taken by a spam email. I get those emails all the time that look exactly like it's coming from PayPal, but my email catches it as spam. If anyone will just run their cursor over the URL, then they would realize that the address is not the same as the legitimate PayPal account URL.
| |
gloamglozer (309) | 1 month ago | Its pretty obvious to tell whether or not it comes from paypal or not. Just look at the address it came from.

gloamglozer (309) | 1 month ago | Here's a tip. When websites have an email then more often than not they have the email address ending in the same domain name as the website. eg. lets say there's a online game website called www.fungames.com if they have send you an email from them then it would come from an email address like "admin@fungames.com" The same with paypal. It has to end with "@paypal.com.au" so if you get an email from something like "support@qweui.paypal.com" then it is spam.

3. Barb42 (880) | 1 month ago | I have been with PayPal for many years and never have had a problem since the day I started there. The only thing I've ever had to do was update a credit card to a later date. I have had money transferred from my account to my bank account on many occasions. Have you gone directly to PayPal yourself and seen your account? I do know that there are spam emails going out that look identical to a PayPal email. I have gotten many of those same emails telling me my account has been suspended, etc. I found out it is only Spam. If you replied to the email that you got, then you aren't talking to Paypal but someone trying to get your information to get your money. You need to go directly to PayPal's site, not through and email and check this out. I hope that you haven't been taken by an illegitimate person. Never reply to any emails that come from PayPal or any other place like a bank, etc. They would never ask for your information without you contacting them first. Always go directly to their site by typing in the correct address and that way you know you are in the correct site, not a look alike.

gloamglozer (309) | 1 month ago | I checked it in my paypal account as well, when i logged in i got a message saying saying my account is limited. I know if i get spam emails or not. Just look at the email it was sent from if it doesn't end with "@paypal.com" then it is spam. I never fall for that.
| |
Barb42 (880) | 1 month ago | Every illegitimate email I have gotten looks like a legitimate email, with the @paypal.com address. It's just that, in the body of the email, where they give you an URL to click on, it looks legit, but goes to another address.
| |
gloamglozer (309) | 1 month ago | Are you sure? Every illegitimate email i got never had exactly "@paypal.com.au" at the end. That does remind me however, that you can send any email poses as any email you wish. I remember that i bookmarked that page that tells you how to do it but i don't have it anymore since firefox stuffed up and my bookmarks got wiped.
| |
Barb42 (880) | 1 month ago | Yes, I am sure. And the URL within the email looked fine, but, if you cursored over it, it would say it didn't match. When I see one from 'paypal', I just delete it because it usually says something similar and I know my account is fine. You are right. An email can be sent by anyone with 'anyone's' address. I know. I've gotten emails from myself (actually not me), and it looks legit, until you get to looks at the ISP numbers.

finlander60 (598) | 1 month ago | Barb42, Your information is very good. I have found that when I get one of these types of e-mails they are usually in my BULK MAIL. That always sends up a BIG FLAG in my brain. My answer is to ALWAYS FORWARD IT TO: spoof@paypal.com
| |
Barb42 (880) | 1 month ago | You are right. The best thing is to send them on to there so it can be dealt with. There are people who know how to read all those headers and find the people responsible for sending those out. They do find some and then some will turn around and get another ISP address to send from starting the process all over again. Usually those types of emails are sent by my emailer to the JUNK section. It apparently recognizes something within the email and separates it from my legitimate emails. I've never had an email from Paypal with the exception of notifying me of a payment sent out or received. I think they are a very good company myself.

katiedoubleu (2711) | 1 month ago | The phishing emails to steal personal data can definitely make it look as if the mail came from paypal (or ebay, etc.) Paypal will*always* use your name and not "dear paypal user" or "dear -youremailaddress-." I run the mouse over the link those phishing mails say to click on (without clicking) and it's usually from some third world country or the hubs of where a lot of ID theft is going on. If all else fails, give paypal a call. They don't ask people to verify information by clicking on a link in a mail without the person's name there. Oh, and those mails are more than spam... they're why identity theft is so widespread.

Barb42 (880) | 1 month ago | Katie, you are so right. I get Ebay and Paypal emails on a regular basis. And I have yet to ever get one from Paypal other than to tell me I've paid for something, or someone has sent me a payment. Those phishing emails do look legit and I've heard of lots of people clicking on them, thinking they were from PayPal only to find they had been had. I've learned you just don't click on emails that don't have your name in the TO section and even then sometimes the email isn't legit. You just really have to pay attention to every aspect of an email anymore since so many people have learned the tricks of the trade of stealing! I even know one woman who got her bank account wiped out. It was the bank's fault, though, and she got all her money back. There are definitely some smart, dishonest people out there.

gloamglozer (309) | 1 month ago | I asked them already if they can send me a cheque but they replied with the definition of what having a limited paypal account is which really annoys me because i feel like i am talking to an answering machine that sends you the same message over and over regardless of what you say to them.

5. pkraj111 (750) | 1 month ago | Paypal may require additional information to protect your security. I think it is required to get verified from time to time as the account may be hacked and could nd up in the wrong hands
| |
| |
gloamglozer (309) | 1 month ago | That doesn't protect my security at all. By submitting more pieces of confidential information a hacker is more likely to steal more info about me. The purpose of submitting more information is for paypal to make sure that i am really who i claim to be and quite frankly they need more than just a bank account.

6. USNavyChief (212) | 1 month ago | Yes, the same thing happened to me. I opened a new PayPal account because I needed two accounts. I sent $50.00 to my new paypal account - and then I wanted to send someone $25.00 - but paypal said I cannot send money because my account is not yet verified. So I tried to get verified by entering my bank account number - but paypal says I cannot use that bank account number because it is already being used by somebody else. The only way I can get verified with my new account is for me to open up a new bank account that they will accept.

gloamglozer (309) | 1 month ago | Yeah. Im stuck with a similar situation, I can't verify my new account if i want my $70 from other money making sites unless i have my account verified which means i also need to get a new bank account.

8. coolseeds (2210) | 1 month ago | This has never happened to me. However I think you should call them. Their phone # is (402)935-2050. Call them every day. Call them several times a day. Ask them what you need to do to reinstate your account. Then do what ever they want you to do if you want your money. If they will not reinstate it then call them several times a day. 402-935-2050 is Paypal's phone number. Notice that it isn't on their front page. When I discovered it I wrote in on a piece of clear tape and attached it to my monitor. Good luck. Also don't forget the holy water. I heard it comes in handy when you are fighting evil.

9. akuseru (1657) | 1 month ago | PayPal isn't evil. They most likely limited your account because you're only 116--too young to legally enter into contracts like the one that PayPal has with its users, as is stated in the terms and conditions of the site. While sites like myLot and many PTC sites don't have a problem with users being under the age of majority, PayPal does take it seriously. You probably will not get anything besides form letters in response to your messages. If possible, have your parent or guardian call PayPal directly and talk to them, and ask that they change the account into their name instead of yours. You may not be able to get the $10 that is currently in your account; your best bet may be to simply close the account and try to get someone over 18 to allow you to use their account until you're old enough to have your own. You shouldn't have problems adding that bank account to another PayPal account if the one that's been limited is closed.

10. ravusri1 (601) | 1 month ago | Banks do not send any mail like that, even if they do they will never give a link where it carries onto your account. Its always safe to open a browser manually and then type the website which you want to go because no a days lot of phishing activities are going on in the internet and if we fell into their trap then it would become our mistake of not finding the trap. One needs to be very careful especially online money activities. Thank god, my Antivirus is all in one and warns me if I am being attacked by any of these illegal activities.
