What is the most unusual fruit you have tried? |
|
For me it would have to be the starfruit. Boy was that a weird experience. Its a unique looking yellow fruit that is in the shape of a star. I found it to be sweet enough, but it didn't really taste like anything and was bland. I wonder now if there is a fancy way to prepare it that you might only find at some fancy place in New York. Sounds about right. They probably have a starfruit salad or ice cream or something.

2. snowy22315 (5096) | 3 months ago | THey will put it in tropical drinks and things like that. I'm not sure if I have tried any really exotic fruits. I've probably tasted starfruit before. I have had papaya and kiwi, neither of which are too unusual. I think pomegrante may have been the strangest fruit I've eaten. They have unusual fruit at Bloom grocery probably like uglifruit and such, but I have never bouught it.

3. peaceful (1832) | 3 months ago | I'm guy who happens to be somewhat of a foodie, and I have often tried many, many things including starfruit, which I like as a component to a champagne sorbet!:) The most unusual fruit that I ever attempted to eat was Durian Fruit, which I'll never try again! LOL!:) http://www.apsense.com/article/113211.html I really enjoy new things as far as foods are concerned, and it occurs to me that many fruits and vegetables that USA folks consider "normal" are also considered strange by many other cultures... I hope that you get a laugh out of my article about Durian fruit, and that you will also hear from the Mylot community about their food experiences, too!:)

tanniebabe78 (754) | 3 months ago | I am with you on that one. Although it is mostly because to me, it gets in the way of eating the fruit. Then again, maybe God put seeds in fruit to keep us from eating too fast back in the hunting and gathering days.

8. sylvia13 (757) | 3 months ago | I usually like eating kiwi fruit, especially for breakfast and my favourite are those from New Zealand. This morning my husband went to the corner shop and bought a different coloured one, definitely not green like the others, but yellow. I tried it and the taste was absolutely delicious! In a way it reminded me of a tropical fruit or a peach, even though I could not really specify which! What a delicious flavour!

9. TessWhite (1292) | 3 months ago | For me it would be a pomegranate. Strange looking things, but boy do I love them. They are so hard to find and are usually fairly expensive though. I remember many years ago trying pomegranate wine. Boy was that good. I guess the next strangest would be a mango. Its not something I like I discovered. I've seen the star fruit but didn't know how to prepare or eat it so never bought it.
