Do you overpack when you travel?

I always take much more then I need because I am always worried if this or that happens. I usually come back with half my clothes never even used! Do you over, under, or just right pack? xoxoxoxoxoxo When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money. Then take half the clothes and twice the money. - Susan Heller

I always try to take an extra outfit, but I like to have some space so I can put stuff I buy in the suitcase.

Me, i have always have a more pocket money. I bring clothes what i think I will be needing depending on the number of days of travel.I can buy clothes everywhere, money is more needed and important.

Of course I overpack, I am a female. Its ok when you take a car trip, when taking a trip by plane you have to cut down. I like taking extra shoes, in the summer I like to match my shoes to my outfit. I have several pairs of summer shoes in different colors. I did real good last year when I went to Cal. I wore and used almost everything except my jacket, I had to take that just in case.

I have my own personal term for anything like that that I tend to overdo. I tell people that I am making an elephant. I have spoiled more good times for myself by creating those elephants, then taking care of them and feeding them and maintaining them. Whether it is a simple picnic lunch or a long vacation, I am a belt and suspender type of girl, and I always try to have an extra stash of money as well.

I used to when I traveled by family and friends by car, but when I started travelling on my own on the bus or on the plane, I'd pack less not only because I had to carry it all home, but also because if I went somewhere, I might want to get some souveniers, and I would need room to carry them back home.

I have a tendency to over pack. I have been getting better about this over the past few years. My biggest problem area seems to be shoes. I always try to take too many shoes. I don't know why.

I am truly guilty of overpacking! Although when I go away to my retreat, a week today woohooo for 10 days I take the car, so it doesn't really matter how much I take cos I don't have to carry it! That's the beauty of having a car. Although when I do away without the car I still end up carrying stuff that half of it I won't need. But there's always the 'just in case' factor. And I know damn well that if I don't take a particular item with me, I will find I need it! Sod's Law I think that amounts too! So I take extra and too much every time!

I pack what I need and sometimes I do not take enough. I have to consider whether there is a laundry place where we are. If we are staying with relatives we can use their washing machine, but if not, I have to pack twice as much underwear. My husband tells me not to pack too much and I listen to him and regret it later, because I then run out of stuff. Now with the airports charging extra for luggage, I will be in more trouble as I intend to buy stuff when we go on a trip.

Hi raydene! No matter how much my husband remind me to travel light, I end up traveling with a big suitcase. Yikes! I can't seem to leave behind my favorite clothes and shoes even though I know I won't be wearing it anyway. haha.. Take care and God Bless!

I know what you mean, I always OVER pack when I travel (even from one city to another). I guess it's a woman's thing.

Well of course I never know what I am going to need especially with clothes. The weather could be crazy and you ALWAYS have to be prepared.

Definitely not! I can pack for a 7-day trip in a suitcase that can fit under the seat of an airliner. I got this bag 20 years ago when I worked for TWA. I learned very quickly, NEVER check luggage if you ever want to see it again. Always carry on and put it under the seat in front of you.
