Who is Your Favorite Robot of All-Time?  |

 When you were young, did you watch cartoons or shows featuring robots? If you did, who is your all-time favorite? I still remember when I was in school, it was the early 80's when most of the cartoons shown in the Philippines, was based on robots, The president banned the shows for unconfirmed reasons.  We were very sad because we were not able to know how the series ended. Would you believe I bought a complete DVD set of Voltes Five (Which is my Favorite), when I was already working because I want to know how the story ended.  How about you do you have any robot you have in mind? I have posted the excerpt from Wikipedia stating the discontinuation of the shows.
"The Frontier Enterprises dubs were later aired in the Philippines, where dubbing was continued by the local broadcaster prior to the show's cancellation, allegedly by order of dictator-president Ferdinand Marcos. "Mazinger Z" was first aired by Philippine broadcaster GMA Network at an early primetime slot of 6:00PM in 1979 and it became an instant hit among children of that time. The whole 6:00PM slot from Monday to Friday featured a series of "super robots," such as Grendizer, Mekanda and Voltes V with "Mazinger Z" airing on Wednesday. There were rumors that Marcos found the series "too violent" for the then Philippine government censored television industry while others say, the series was too popular in the ratings game, killing competition of other TV networks allegedly owned by Marcos business cronies. Newspaper accounts of the time cite the incident of a young boy jumping off the roof of his house while mimicking the "super robots" as proof of the negative influence of the violence in the "super robot" shows. It should be noted that the dailies of the time were also under the control of the Marcos government."

| 2. coffeebreak (2575) | 1 month ago |  Ah yes, robots. First there was Rosie on my favorite Jetson's cartoon! Sure would have liked to live there and have a robot waiting on me! THen there was little V.I.C.K.Y - forget what the letters stood for, but she was a "human" robot that a man designed and was "using" in his house as "reserach" and she was his "daughter". It was a family sitcom - pretty funny.

| 3. clowdine (872) | 1 month ago |  I have 3 favorite cartoon robots: Voltes V, Daimos and Voltron. The only problem is I haven't watched Voltron in full. Anyway, I can always look it up at youtube. "Transformers" is also a delightful anime to me. Obviously, that series is swarmed by robots. You can find it at youtube.com. The 2007 movie version is also uploaded there.
For live people super robot series, my favorite is Bio-robot (Bioman). It's not bulky looking.

I'm not sure if I would have a favourite Cartoon 'bot..about the Earliest one that I can still remember is "Gigantor",so that one must have made an impression..Recent Cartoon Bots..I'd say "The Iron Giant".. TV/Movie Bots.."Danger,Will Robinson!" and "I'll Be Back.."one of the Funniest Robots on TV was Kryten (Red Dwarf) and his Replacement (Hudzen)..the "Sales video" for Hudzen Still makes Me laugh..especially the brick demo! it may be available on Youtube!

When I was still in schoil in the late 60s to early 70 I remember an American series called Lost In Space with an actor when he was a smll boy is name is Billy Mummy and he had a friend a robot, the family were lost in space4 and they built this robot that became one of the fiamily, it was a great children series, but I don't know much about your goverment and how they work but this made for t.v. series has not violent in it.

well have a cartoon here too called by "Caverna do Dragao" i do not know the real name but the story is about a group of tennager that has "died" and stopped in another world they are trapped there and the key is one unicorn that always keep them there. the bad guy in really is the good and vice-versa. this is a crazy storys and its sad the writer stop make the story because the end its much strong for the people.
but about the Robot i really dunno.. have someone i like like robocop (the Cartoon!) or zeta=p those two are really cool. actually have a new one is Wall-E i've see the trailer but dont have had the chance of watch it. maybe in the future... who knows? xD

Do you mean my favorite robot on television or on the movies, or do you mean my favorite, personal robot?
In television, I liked the robot on Lost in Space. He seemed trustworthy most of the time and I liked how he tried to protect Will.
In the movies, I liked R2D2.
