Do Not Panic no Matter What Happens

I received an email with the heading above. I ignored it at first thinking it was just one of those emails people forward around. However, later on I decided to just have a look at what it says before putting it away. This is what it says: One day a man was sitting in his office on the 19th floor of a building. A man came running into his office and shouted, “John, your daughter, Anna, just died in an accident right opposite this building" The gentleman was in panic. Not knowing what to do, he jumped out through his office window. While coming down, when he was near the 14th floor he remembered he didn't have a daughter named Anna. When he was near the 7th floor, he remembered he was not married yet. When he was about to hit the ground he remembered he was not John. Well, it sort of brightened my day; and from now I will try my best to think before I act.

awww! that sucks! is that really possible when people are panicking? anyway, this should serve as a lesson to learn how to think first before your actions...

Some people are more prone to panic than others. And in some situations it may not be easy to stay calm. Well, we can only do our best to remain calm.

Hello 2wicelot, *Laughs* At least, I learned something from the story! Sometimes, we just can't control the panic feeling. Whenever I feel panic, I will start to make mistakes - one after another. I just can't think properly and can't find the reason why it happens to me out of sudden. This story really serves a good lesson for me. Must always remember to think carefully...

Yes it is good to think carefully before acting. But I guess it may not always be possible.

Oh, I guess this is funny. In fact I know it is funny. But still, it kind of hurts my heart to think about it. Reflection of your options before acting is a really good thing whenever it is possible. The proverbial chicken with its head cut off is literally acting without thinking... (no brain!). This story is really an interesting way to start the day. Here's to thoughtful living!

It is a really a good idea to remain calm in all situations. I guess it may not be possible some times.

I've heard this one before and its a very good way of illustrating that you should never panic or act in haste. Thinking well and a cool head will help you out in many situations

I totally agree with you. I had a colleague once whose first reaction to almost any situation is to panic; then think later. But I doubt even he could forget his name in such a situation.

LOL. that poor guys brain must have been very tired for it to take that long to figure all of the stuff out. I guess some people get traumatised before they actually figure out it does not even have an effect on them at all.

Yeah, there must have been a lot going on in his brain. He didn't even remember his name and he didn't even remember he was not married.

What the h3ll? How dumb can people be? LOL Geez!!!!! I can't believe someone would fall for that. I hope the e-mail is just a joke, and if it is, it's a pretty stupid one, if it's meant to teach people a lesson. I can't think of anyone in the world that stupid as to fall for the situation, as the guy in the e-mail did.

I believe it was just a joke. I doubt that anyone can be that nervous.

This reminds me of this colleague of mine. His first reaction to any situation was to panic, then think later.

LOL I think I would have thought of those things prior to jumping out the window but yes, ppl do need to think before they act. A saying that I like goes "Fools rush in where angels fear to tread". Kind of puts it in perspective. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Well, you have to be calm and in control to think of all those stuff before jumping I guess, lol. The guy may have had a lot on his mind. Anyway, the lesson here I believe is always think before you act in all situations.

This post is partly a joke but with meaningful lesson to those who are always daydreaming and panicky. I am sure that guy is aware of himself being still a bachelor. Something to smile and ponder to the contents of your email.

Yes, it has meaningful lessons even though it was delivered in a humorous way. The guy could have been under a lot of stress in the office though, lol. But it is good to try to remain calm in all situations.

Yes I believe they were just trying to tell us to always think before we act. But I am not sure it is possible for anyone to be that irrational.
