These are in front of my deck where they show very well to all passerbys in cars, on bikes, or walking past my house. I have gotten comments often about their looks. Anyhow the yard looks shabby as it needs mowing etc but the Phloxx are beautiful.
have you ever recieved compliments from strangers about your flowers, yard, landscaping?

Those do look nice. I had received a compliment for the large yellow flowers in my front flower beds. It was pumkin blossoms. The kids had smashed one in the front the previous fall and I apparently did not catch all the seeds. When I noticed them grow, I just let it go as I didn't have much time going through it and 'weeding' them out. We had plenty of pumpkins that year, lol.

Cool. Some garden plants have great looking flowers as they bloom don't they? Zuchinni have nice big beautiful flowers as well. Have you continued to grow them?

I've seen Pumpkin farms and they do spread very quickly covering a lot of area. That's why I won't have any here in my gardens.

Not in the front yard, lol. They can overpower everything else that grows there. And my husband kept complaining when he had to mow because those vines got in the way. But we grow pumpkins every year. Last year they didn't turn out though. We had a drought and I couldn't water them enough.

Oh, those are gorgeous!! I'll put them on my list for next year! I really want more flowers out front but I have shrubs there. I'm thinking window boxes but the phlox is rather large for those.
Thanks for the pic!

Ph grows up to 3 feet tall and spreads very well,
so a box would not be the best place for them.

How about when the pizza delivery guy said he almost could not find me because I was so buried in the boonies? I am on Main Street, but I have layers of growing things between me and the street to provide privacy, absorb pollution, and cut the noise. It is a four lane road out front.

Noone has ever mentioned the weeds.
Seems they see beyond that once they catch sight of my Lilies. I dunno.

I did just recently. Last year I put up some landscaping in front of my house and a girl that grew up here stopped to tell me she liked what I did. Even though it hadn't been weeded! It's nice to have someone appreciate what you do when it's been alot of hard work! Good for you....

So many people look beyond the weeds to see the flowers.

I bet your yard hardly looks shabby..Grandpa Bob...not with all the flowers you have planted everywhere. I myself don't have a very good green thumb, I can't grow anything. I don't think I've ever gotten any compliments about my yard, other than why don't they clean it up? lol.
