It's that time of year again.....the county fair!  

There is a county fair here, but I haven't gone to it in years.

Awesome! I love going to fairs, but I can't walk enough now to go. I did love it so much. I love everything about it.. the booths, the food, the crafts, the entertainment.. the rides... everything.

The fair in my area starts July 30, 2008 and ends August 10, 2008. It only costs a $1.00 on the first day of the fair, so its a great day to save money. The days I would like to be there are August 1st, as the Doobie Brothers are performing and the other day is August 4th when The Beach Boys are performing again. My daughter isn't happy with any of the performers this year. he took one look at my choices and said they are old.

I will be going, but will have to work out the details with my husband for which day. I'm sure it won't be Monday August 4th, as I work that day. I'm hoping for Friday.

We have all kinds of fairs and festivals here and i avoid them like the plague! I hate the crowds and the noise, so i just stay as far away as i can get!

Wow, it sounds like you have quite a County Fair! We've lived in our current home for 5 years. And I've never been to the county fairs here. The last year or 2 my husband and I have talked about going, but just never gotten around to it.

The heat here in the summer time is so oppressive that I can't imagine walking around at the Fair, even for an hour. However, I don't know how early in the morning it starts, which may offer an option for us.

When we lived in IL, we did occasionally go to the County Fair. In fact, one year I entered my Cinnamon Swirl Loaf bread in the bread baking contest and won a blue ribbon! I was totally shocked. A neighbor had told me to enter it after I baked a loaf and sent it over to her house (my son was about 8 years old at the time and he took it to her). She kept bugging me to enter it, so I did.

Anyhoo, this discussion makes me want to check out our County Fair this year, just to see what they have. I don't think they'll have any known musicians or anything like that, since the town is so small in FL.

and our county fair starts here like the first of September and runs for about five days. my family and i used to go to the fair every year, until one year, i got pick-pocketed walking through the crowd, and we haven't been back since! oh my gosh! that was the worst feeling in the world! luckily i had my money down in the left side of my shorts pocket and not on the right hand side. the pick-pocketer got away through the crowd. if my hubby would have caught up with him, that would have been it for that man. have a nice time at your fair. and enjoy the entertainment.

We have nothing like that where I live Jill.
There are some piddly little fairs not worth going to, but nothing like your fair.
I would love to go to one of them.
Just to see all the patchwork pieces that have been made.
