Anyone for astronomy?

Astronomy - This is a picture of Saturn in all of it's glory.

Just about all of my life I have enjoyed looking up at the heavens especially at night time. The stars are beautiful. The constellations are remarkable. Does anyone share this idea or own a telescope and do any night viewing of the skies? I wish I had a telescope myself.

I would have whole-heartedly agreed with you if I was still that boy of yesteryears studying in class 8 of school, who had been introduced to the miraculous world of the heavens through a school library book which contained the monthly star charts. It was unimaginable, I had never before then knew that there were so many constellations earmarked in the heavens, having known just two of them previously, Orion and the Great Bear. But though they fascinated me, I still couldn't get a particular point from where to start hunting for them, as both of the aforesaid constellations weren't in the night sky at that time of the year, and the book was of a different country than ours. But one evening, I was absent-mindedly looking southwards when suddenly, my eyes fell on a huge glittering curved T-shape in the heavens, and immediately I felt that I had seen this form in one of the star charts. So I scanned them all and at last found out my first constellation-Scorpio. That was truly a wondrous moment in my life. Since then, I've seen all the constellations and there's no longer anything more to see, and the light pollution blurring the skies have worsened mattters. I do have a powerful pair of binoculars, but even they now cannot penetrate through the haze. So I have almost given up on astronomy, there's nothing new in it to excite me any more. Phew, it's been a long story. Hope you weren't bored with it. Do reply. Cheers.

I wasn't bored at all and quite astonished with your past introduction to the heavens. It is a miraculous world isn't it up above? It doesn't seem that long ago that you say you were a boy, I imagine. You are very eloquent in your dialogue about the stars. Thank you so much for your input on this subject.
