I love gardening of all sorts. Today as I was weeding the cukes alongside my house a neighbor drove by then stopped in my driveway. He just wanted to state how great my yard looks recently since I moved in. he also said his wife wanted to know more about my pink phloxx (pictured here). I have been here almost 6 years and the place looked like a sandy desert of sorts back then. Anyhow I love getting complimented on my flowers and lawn etc. My hard work pays off in many ways other than just a hobby. Do you do landscaping/gardening/yard work as a hobby? Or is it a task/chore for you? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I am my fathers caregiver. Hence I am home ALL day long and have plenty of time for gardening etc. This is one reason I have just a vast garden be it veggies, fruits, or flowers. I have it all and spend a few hours a day most days doing something along the gardening line. Thanks and have a great day/evening as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Thanks very much. I do my best with my limited funds and with what I have most times. I try to keep the whole area looking good. Changing things around makes others spot these changes as well which is another reason I do it. As far as teaching, all I can say is read the packets and or things that come with plants and follow those directions. hee hee. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

How does it feel to make your part of the world better? I'm serious. You are making your part of the world more valuable and more beautiful. We can't all say that. Plus, you give pleasure to everyone who drives by, and all of us at mylot who have access to your photos. Thank you Grandpa Bob!

Hi Grandpa B, When I was single and was living with my Parents, I would say it was a task for me...I can't just sit down and watch my Mom and Dad, so I will help them with their garden...I love watching the pretty flowers and eating the vegetables but I felt different when I had my own this year..LOL! It was indeed satisfying and I would say this is my hobby now! I can imagine how beautiful also your yard is with everything that you have shared with us, pictures of your flowers, fruits and vegetables!

That was very nice of your neighbor to stop and give you the compliment you so well deserve. I know that we all say things on here about how nice it all looks but to actually see it in person is something else. A yard like yours makes your area look so much nicer.

It must be really lovely to get comments like that, must make you feel really proud of yourself. I hate gardening, I have probably told you before, but I do. I wish that I could like it, it is not the work and planting and that. It is the bugs and spiders, I just cannot cope with them at all.

Those flowers sure do look nice. It is really good that the neighbors notice what you have done to your garden and how beautiful it is. I planted a border around my yard. We had a picket fence up but it blew done in one of last winters storms. Now a lot of people compliment how nice it looks. Even my landlord compliments it and says what an improvement it is.

It is lovely that your neighbor complimented your garden. It was a shame that it was just like a sandy desert when you first moved in to your home six years ago. You must have worked so hard to get it looks as beautiful as it does today. I think that your photo of the flowers is really pretty. I can see how much you love gardening. I have a bush outside my kitchen window that I have to trim the top off every two weeks. I have a front lawn that has got lots of dandy lions on it. I have got a back lawn and that looks much nicer. I have flowers like roses and plants like hardy palm like varieties. Outside my patio doors I have wooden decking that gets slippery when the weather is wet. The other week my neighbor was gardening and I told her that her garden looked pretty. She has a colorful area of flowers and lovely looking pattern of concrete going towards her house. She is an imaginative house owner for her house is lime green with model butterflies on it. She loves gardening whilst I think of it as being a chore more than a hobby. Happy gardening.

What a lovely yard! You've done such wonderful work. And the grass is so green. How do you get it so green? Our grass is patchy and weird looking. But it's growing in a little better in the back yard since all the heavy rains. So many restrictions locally on when a person can water their lawn. Congrats on the beautiful plants and yard. You've worked hard, so you deserve all the rewards.

Congratulations GB! Your hard work is paying of, i saw a picture you posted a few months back and it looked good then. But i have to admit it's looking even better, it's amazing what a lot of love and some elbow grease can result in. You're well on your way to being the envy of the neighbourhood {if you're not already} Keep up the good work.

I think that you make Gardening look easy. I have done it and it is hard work. But when I see your pictures and read your posts. It all seems like is is easy to do. And the most enjoyable thing under the Sun! every flower and plant and veggie I have seen looks wonderful! You have a real GREEN THUMB there. that is a huge blessing!

Its pretty much a chore for me. I get excited and start something but then I don't want to finish it or keep it up. It depends alot on the weather. When spring is here I enjoy it more than the summer. The humidity here is bad and my allergy/asthma acts up so bad I can't breathe when I go outside.

That is great. We were the first ones to move to our subdivision ten years ago. this used to be a farm until then. We started with nothing but dirt here. We now have a beautiful yard but we are not finished with all of the landscaping here. We love it and we are always doing something with it. Wer have two garden ponds full of goldfish in our bacj yard also with and above groung pool with a wooden decj around it. My yard is also privacy fenced. You would have to see it to appreciate it. I would love to post a picture of it here but I have no way to yet.

I live in a city where we have no yard or garden, so gardening is out of question. Our window faces the main road. But your pink phloxx look beautiful. Acutally it is the first time I am even aware of such a flower. They look l ike roses to me. Congratulaions and keep it up grandpa. You deserve to feel proud. Not everybody has green fingers.

It depends on my joints whether it's a joy or a chore! Usually it's something I enjoy regardless but about half the time it's a chore. The payoff is worth it, though.

I bet your yard is the best looking one on the block. It feels great to have someone come along and compliment you on the hard work you've done. I myself think of yard work as a chore..lol. I don't like working out in the yard, I do it because I have to, otherwise it would look awful. We have a big yard, its about an acre, so we have to keep it mowed pretty much all the time, or it will get out of hand and the weeds will all grow up. As far as flowers and stuff, I don't have any planted, because I don't like to have to weed..lol. I don't have much of a green thumb like you do, so nothing would grow anyway, I've tried to grow flowers but they didn't do much for me. Happy Gardening to you....
