I get alot of dirty looks because of what i allow my kids to do. I allow my kids to play grand theft auto (all of them) i let my son play almost any playstation game he wants. Some may say "nope, no way, my kid wont touch games like that" well i allow my son to because we taught him what was acceptable in real life and what is acceptable in games. those games are not real and he will not do that in real life. I allow my son to have time on his pre paid cell phone but thats because if he needs to contact me he has the ability to do so since for some reason there arent as many pay phones as there were when i was little. its next to impossible to find a payphone these days. its sad! if there you do see one its either broke or there is only one and someone is already on it. I just want to know who allows there kids to do things like this? and if you think im wrong for allowing my kids to do this.

Well, you know that I think anything that you let your kids do is okay because they're my grandkids and they're perfect! I do know that you reinforce the difference between video games and real life to the boys and I think that's good. You can't wrap them in cotton and you certainly can't control what they're playing at someone else's house. As you know, since I raised you, I believe that communication is very important and I always talked to you kids about many things as you were growing up. I think it helped all of you to be good decision makers and you doing the same with your kids will help them make good choices, too. Love ya!

This is kinda funny because some of my gaming clan, Killas For Hire, and I were discussing this just the other day while playing Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and then onto when we got into some Gears of War online because most of us have kids. Basically, we figure its up to the parent on letting their kids play. But that we would no longer censor ourselves from the really nasty things we say in game because we are adults paying our dues, our XBox Live Gold accounts clearly reflect that (Underground) and the games we play are rated 17+. So if the parent wants to let their kid play the game, then the parent wants to hear us go on about the jobs we had in the past in the adult industry or new ways to combine bad words, etc. Multiplayer gets really graphic and explicit. I mute my mic and turn my headset down. I myself only just let my son, 15 play the games I play. He is past the medical age whereas the frame motion of video games impairs frontal lobe development (impulse control - JP 20 year study concluded). Plus he is old enough now to not be so readily desensitized by such things. And was a little frightened of me after I owned him in 5/5 Deathmatch games in Call of Duty 4. But, because of certain situations I have seen on Xbox Live, I will not let him have a Gold Account. I had to report two people now for "inappropriate behaviour towards children" due to their "attempts to solicit private contact information" from said kids as well as my own friend's son coming to me with some disturbing info about the whole webcam and UNO games. Bottom line is, video games aren't bad. No more than a computer or a lawn mower. Teach safety. Teach right from wrong. Don't let them become addicted to video games like I am. Repeated exposure to video games *is* believed to cause frontal lobe development issues, but mine is developed. And if you are cool with your kids being in the multiplayer online aspect of games, just know that most people don't pay attention to kids (kid gets ignored), boot them from rooms just for being a kid and past experiences with kids (causes rejection issues in kids and promotes negative sportsmanship behaviour in kids), and their are predators even on video game channels. Kinda like candy for some I'd think.
