do you cry over drama scene in a foreign movie you are watching even if the film/show is in a foreign language and you are just reading the subtitles?

i watch a lot Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese tv series and movies and even though they are all in a foreign language i can't understand, even if i'm just reading the subtitles below the screen, i still get moved at every dramatic scenes and if it is really good, i would be crying to the point that not only my eyes are crying but also my nose. lol

and i have just been crying an hour ago over the last episode of Yamada Tarou Monogatari which is a story about a guy, Yamada Tarou, who looks like a prince, always on top of the class, moves very elegantly but in truth, he is poor. he stands as the breadwinner for his family, he has 5 little siblings, a weak mother couldn't even cook, and his father is always away living his life painting anything he'd see. Tarou does everything, the household chores, part-time jobs, taking care of the needs of his siblings and his mother, tending to their little garden, but still manages to stay on top of his class. the series is not strictly a drama series, it is actually a comedy infused with some drama. i just got so touched with the love within Tarou's family that's why i couldn't stop my tears. cry

so do you cry over a foreign film even if you're just reading what they are saying in the subtitles? does reading the subtitles hamper you from connecting to the emotions the film/series want to convey?

i have been misunderstood by a lot of people too. and still being misunderstood. people judge so easily and i don't have the patience to explain myself. this just proves that we can't really please everybody.

Secret bear.. it shows that you are so.. very kind in nature.. and you are looking at the sufferings of others as that of your own. Not all those will watch these kind of dramatic scenes get moved... but only those with good hearts. Nurture the habit of helping the helping the poor and the needy.. dear..

God bless you.. and shall give you a peace of mind.happy

Hello secretbear,

I do. Even though I don't understand the language, it can sometimes make me cry and end up with a red nose! My husband always tease me for being too emotional, but what else I can say.... I am emotional! I watch Korean, Japanese and other dramas/movies too *smiles* I think we don't need to understand the language to understand the plot of the story. As long as there is a subtitle to help us understand the story, it is more than enough!

myLot reputation of 98/100. secretbear (7252)   ranked 1 out of 43 in j-dorama  4 years ago

hi gr8life! so you watch Asian films too? what have you watched recently? ^__^

myLot reputation of 99/100. gr8life (4471)  4 years ago

Hello secretbear,

It has been a long time since I have time to spend in front of the TV *smiles* But, I remember watching a few Filipino dramas such as Kay Tagal Kay.... (can't remember the other word *smiles*) Hey, I like Jericho.... *smiles* I don't understand at all what they're talking but like you said, as long as there's a subtitle, everything just perfect to make me 'emotional' *laughs* I remember in that drama, how I hate this girl, Katrina who acted so stupidly towards her ex-sister boyfriend. I even rushed home just to make sure I managed to see the next episode. Not even once, I missed the drama *laughs* I love Korean dramas the most as one thing for sure - the hero can cry, cry and cry so much that I feel pity for him and cry with him too!

myLot reputation of 98/100. secretbear (7252)   ranked 1 out of 43 in j-dorama  4 years ago

lol i know that one. its "Kaytagal Kitang Hinintay" (i've waited long for you). Jericho Rosales is a good actor and he really can cry. i admire him too. so you watch Filipino dramas! that made me proud. wink but i love Korean and Japanese dramas more. maybe because i'm already tired of the dramas in my own local language. ^__^;; and i want something different. happy

Oh, we're the same. I do cry while watching movies specially if the scene is so touching. But do see to it that I am watching alone. Because if someone sees me cry over a film, they'll tease me. LOL.

myLot reputation of 98/100. secretbear (7252)   ranked 1 out of 43 in j-dorama  4 years ago

hi dhangski! we're the same. i don't cry when there's other people around. i do my best to stop my tears. ^__^;; but if i'm alone, i can cry freely. wink

Kristin Hermosa is a really good actress. and she's really pretty and her husband Diether Ocampo is good looking too. they seem too perfect with each other. too bad their marriage didn't last long.

I am also a cry baby. Nice films, tv shows, funny or drama, i usually cried. Even novels or comics magazine that gives a nice story I easily cried. As if I am a party to the story. But after crying, nice feeling right.

myLot reputation of 98/100. secretbear (7252)   ranked 1 out of 43 in j-dorama  4 years ago

yeah. its a nice feeling after crying. i always tell myself, after i've used an awful lot of tissue for my tears, that i guess i'm human after all. lol

myLot reputation of 91/100. bagumbayan (1958)  4 years ago

Crying is something that releases some ill feelings on you. It can remove stress. Sometimed I really want to cry out.

myLot reputation of 98/100. secretbear (7252)   ranked 1 out of 43 in j-dorama  4 years ago

i think you're right. crying can really unload some of the heavy things in our chest. happy
