Did you know that they have a day singled out for relaxation? It is August 15.

Women giving a massage. - I have had five massages and have loved everyone of them. My sisters always treated me to them. They are so relaxing and the sense of well being when you come out is something else.

I read this and it made sense to me. But relaxing should be a important part of everyday also. Let National Relaxation Day inspire you to take time for yourself throughout the year When was the last time you spent a day in total relaxation? If you can't remember, you're overdue. But don't worry, we have the perfect excuse for you to take a little time for yourself: August 15th is National Relaxation Day! Why devote a whole day to relaxation? Easy-it's important. Relaxation has been found to improve your health in more ways than one. According to the Mayo Clinic, it can: Reduce physical symptoms, including headache, back pain and high blood pressure Reduce anger and frustration Increase energy levels Improve concentration and ability to solve problems Help you be more efficient Recent research has also found massage to be beneficial for people with allergies, asthma, depression and anxiety, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, circulatory problems, insomnia, sports injuries, TMJ, fibromyalgia and musculoskeletal disorders. August 15 may be the only day of the year designated for relaxation, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't take time to relax all year long. To get the most out of taking it easy, you need to do it consistently. Here are some ways to slow down regularly: 1. Schedule a massage. Massage therapy is the ultimate in relaxation and tension relief. And by making a regular appointment, you'll be more likely to actually keep consistent. 2. Wake up and walk. Exercise is a great stress-reliever. Try to fit it in first thing in the morning before the day gets hectic so you'll be more likely to stick with it. 3. Make a date. Set up a standing date for lunch, dinner, shopping-whatever you like-with a friend and ink it in on your calendar. 4. Break up your day. Making time for relaxation doesn't have to mean a big time commitment. Taking just 15 minutes a day to focus on breathing and visualizing something that makes you happy can do wonders. I want to say Happy Relaxing day on the 15th August. And I hope you start taking time for relaxation everyday.

What a great idea! I wonder how many people will actually observe it? I will try, but the Olympics are on! LOL Hard to relax when you're cheering your lungs out! ROFL

Your welcome sparkofinsanity, I don't only take one day a year to relax. I make it a regular habit of relaxing. Stress can get a person down and I don't allow that to happen to me.

Wow, this is very interesting. This is the first time that I hear of Relaxation Day. This is new to me. I'll certainly keep this in mind for this summer or something like that.

Relaxation should be a regular thing. It keeps the stress down and there fore it keeps a person in good health.

Relaxation Day sounds like a great idea. Too bad though that we have to start having an official day for relaxing. Like you said it should be something we do everyday so we don't get overstressed.

That is interesting. I never heard of a relaxation day. For the whole summer, I have been relaxing so this time I want to give the people who are special to me the chance to relax.

That is pretty cool. I like the idea of a day of relaxation. But also I take more than one day to relax. We need to make it a regular habit of relaxing.

What a great idea! So simple, so easy to do, yet so many people just don't find the time to relax, stress is a great killer and can be so easily prevented, just by taking quality time out to relax and bring those stress levels down as well as the blood pressure. I think however that relaxation day should be incorporated every day, time out, we need it. But I definitely like the massage idea, trouble is I don't have anyone to massage me at home and it can be quite expensive getting a massage privately, but I do do other things to relax, music is a great stress buster as is a nice hot bath. Relaxation should be compulsory!
