What do you say when asked what you'd like for your birthday?

Every year someone never fails to say hey what do you want for your birthday? Some years i have suggestions others i have no clue. The years i know i say well i was looking to get something like this or this. This year I have no clue what i want so when mom asked i was like "i dunno". I ended up saying later on that the best present since i graduated from high school was the year they took me camping at Manitou lake and to the mineral spa there and that I'd like to do that again. Mom really liked that idea and said that she would talk to dad about it but My present would have to be a month or so after my birthday. I told her that was fine. When i was a kid my mom used to have us write a list for her of things we wanted for birthdays or christmas. what do you tell people? What was the best birthday gift you can currently recall?

I normally know what I want for a birthday or christmas before people even ask me. Every Christmas I ask for a years weekend subscription to the paper. There is always a CD out that I want but I won't buy for myself because I just won't spend the money. Best present - a braclet from my hubby.

My aunt does a neat thing for her daughter. Every year she buys some thing big - last year it was a play kitchen set. So when people would say what should I get her my aunt would say. Food, utensiles, plates, and what not. She also did a play house and had every one get furniture, the cars, dolls and what not. I think its a pretty good idea.

That's an awesome idea. That would work out really well.

Usually when my parents or someone ask me what I want for my birthday I will tell them a video game or something like that or I will say I do not know,I would have to say that the best material present I have gotten for my birthday that I recall most recently was when my brother got me Hitman:Blood Money and True Crime:New York City for my birthday this year, but the best not materialistic present I have gotten was having my fiance with me on my birthday, and knowing she loves me.

Aww that's so cool. I'm finding I'm not wanting material things - they just add to clutter these days.

I am glad that you think that is sweet, and I agree too many materialistic things take up to much space, have a great day, good luck in your life, and Happy Posting my friend.

Most of my relatives give me money for my birthday, It's the most practical thing I can think of, and something I can always use. When i get money for a gift, I put half of it in my daily checking account, and the other half into savings, so i can enjoy the gift all year long, if I want.

It sounds like you came up with a really cool idea for your birthday this year! I have the same problem that you have, sometimes there's something I'd like and other times I have no clue...and the fact that my husband waits until the last minute to ask for suggestions doesn't help either. I don't have one best present because I have birthday presents from my kids who are now grown that go back to when they were small and making me home made cards and coupons all the way up to the present time where I have gifts from my husband and grandkids.

i never know what i really want.. i already have pretty much what i want.. i just have my hubby give me money and then i just buy something if i see it.. or we do an event for my birthday.. but i gave up making a list a long time ago since my family didnt approve of half the stuff i wanted and i never got anything off of it so it was a waste of time

Didnt approve? aww thats no fun. Every once in a while i put something outrageous on my list like "A pony" or a swimming pool. One year as a joke my dad got me a paddling pool because i had a swimming pool on my list.
