What to Give For Wedding Gifts?  

ok here is my idea...you might think its a little weird, but my hubby does the sound at our church and we have been invited to a plethora of weddings over the years and always get the same thing to give!
we start with buying a really nice large ceramic bowl (i am canadian and we go to home sense - its a great store) then we get all the fixings for a nice romantic spaghetti dinner (the food, candles, cooking utensils, (wine if you want and glasses) the works and we always hear about how different the gift is. good luck!

Hi! You made me think so much to be honest and I can't still worked it out what would be the nice gift that it wont cost too much... Probably a card or a photo frame or maybe small things that they can use it everyday like tea cups, flower vase. I'm sorry this all I can come up, my mind it not working well, lol....

I wish I knew the answer to this question myself. My 40 year old son is finally getting married in November and I have no clue what to give as a gift. I'm sure he would be happy just by having me travel to Seattle to be at the wedding, but I don't think his new wife would feel the same way
I have not met this woman yet so I have no idea what she is like, is she a cook or a gardener or what. So, I think I shall follow your discussion and see if I get any ideas from the rest of the responders

In the past and in our Country, we always group with co-workers and will contribute a particular amount to get something that they can use in the kitchen! so, no hassle for me..LOL!
How about getting them kitchen utensils, I know we got sales all over and you can always get an affordable one!

My son and his wife got monogramed towels....and they rocked. I don't think it's that expensive either. They had someone local do the embrodery and they were so cool. They used them for guest towels for a long time.

i think the best thing to do is give them a gift card to their favorite store because giving kitchen appliances is getting a little old

It doesn't matter what you give them, they'll return it anyway. One thing that we got and absolutely loved was a sombrero (sp) the top of the hat held the salsa and the rolled up brim held the chips. Also a tea maker is nice, it doesn't cost a lot and it allows you to visit and have some tea. Hope that helps.

This is always a hard situation. We didn't have a wedding either, we just got married and left everybody else out of it, so it always irks me a little when people we are not really close to invite us to weddings, thinking that we probably won't attend but might send a gift, and in truth, usually we don't.


Same thing with babies. However, when a gift is necessary or desirable, we try to come up with one that grows, such as a savings bond or other asset that would increase in value.

Well for my own wedding we have decided we are going to ask guests to put into a 'honeynmoon' fund where they bascially put money into an online account set up with a travel agent to help up pay for our honeymoon. We are already an established couple s don't really wants gifs as such. I guess that doesn't help you, but the moral of the story is t get them something they will get use out of. To save money buy the something that's expensive but half rice in the sales.

I always wish for towels and sheets and those are the two things I never seem to recieve as gifts and need most. I'm not one for dropping hints and I'm always grateful for what I get.
