Do you prefer to give to a goodwill type charity or freecycle items?

I have done both and you do get a tax write off on goodwill and help people out by them selling items and giving to programs, but lately I have enjoyed freecycle. I've gotten a few things, given a few things and you can choose who it goes to. I think it is a great way to "recycle" items and give them to those who need them.
Do you use freecycle or just prefer to donate items you don't need?

It depends on what it is. If I have a box of small miscellaneous things, I give to the Goodwill. Otherwise, I freecycle it, but if there are no takers, I take it to Goodwill. Goodwill can sell things to people who don't do freecycle, so it works out well.

Yeah, I do that too. If I have something worth the time, I will put it on Ebay. If it doesn't sell I usually freecycle it. If no one wants it (rare onfreecycle), I will drop it off to Goodwill. I try to not throw anything away because one person's trash is another's treasure right?

I have done both of those. I sometimes just give things to boxes like donation type boxes. I think the best thing to donate to is probably good will or the slavation army. I dont know if the boxes actually have clothes that go to others. I think they are cut up and sold overseas.

impressive!!such a good deed in helping others...nope i prefer to give some donation similar of that sort ...i mean in a charity foundation and the like..i guess im just too preoccupied of something to do some works as yours...

I love freecycling, I also give to goodwill when I have lots to give. freecyling is good because some people feel uncomfortable walking into a second hand store wondering if people are thinking wrong about them, belittling. Freecycle is confidential and I think alot of people feel good about it.
