I'm just wondering... can't it be engagement necklaces, earring or other kinds of jewelry? lol..

Hi there Kharen! I just received a text message from a friend last night about it. It says that the ancient believe that in our ring finger in our left hand, there is a vein that leads directly to the heart. I am not really sure how true is that but just like to share what my friend sent me.

I think the reason why it was ring simply because ring is more easily to be spotted! you can hide other jewelery like necklaces, bracelet, brooch, and earing easily when you're wearing them, but to hide a ring it's impossible coz you will have to remove it... The other reason is I think its because the ring is the kind of jewelry that you can wear all the time :), to some people jewelries could be disturbing their activities, but ring simply acceptable :)

hi kharen I was told many years ago that an engagement and wedding ring signify by the circle form, the circle of life that forms when two people get married and start a family then their offspring go on to get married and thus begins a circle of life so I think its a lovely idea and makes your committment show to others that you are bespoken. Ready to start the circle of a new life.

when we wear a ring to the ring finger, the nerve is pressed by the ring.the nerve has the connection with the heart.so the partners live happily.that is why there is something called as ring finger.one of the celebrities said this information when i was watching tv.

I suppose you can have what you want really, or rather what your partner gives you. I just think it's more traditional to give a ring. I'm probably not going to get anything as we have decided that we are getting married next year when I move to the US. We've kind of lost the romance of a proposal and a ring.

It can actually be anything you want. Rings are just tradition but people break tradition all the time. I didn't even have an engagement ring on my 2nd wedding. I didn't want one. It seemed like such a big expense and I'm not big on jewlery. Our wedding rings were handmade by an indian and actually very inexpensive. I loved it and the meaning was the same.

You can start a new tradition! I think it had something to do with the eternity of the marriage, so a ring is round and therefore infinite like a marriage was supposed to be! Today many marriages are not eternal, so you may start your own tradition!
