Over the past week, I've gotten over 10,000 steps per day every day except 1!

How many of you wear a pedometer every day? It really does help me to move more during the day. Ever since so many myLot members talked about taking walks and exercising in a discussion a couple of weeks ago, I have been inspired to exercise more. This week, I've gotten 10,000+ steps per day each day except for one day. On that day, I got over 8,000 steps. So, I'm very pleased. And, I've been on the treadmill 5 out of 7 days this week. So, what about you, do you wear a pedometer? Do you think it motivates you to walk more? If you don't wear a pedometer, have you ever thought about wearing one?

I've been wearing a pedometer for a few years now. Lately I've been averaging 7,000 something steps a day. That's not too bad but I should be doing better. Are you a member of America on the Move? I am on there with some friends and you log pedometer steps and track progress on different virtual trails. It's pretty cool. You are doing great with your steps! Have you lost any more weight?

When I worked at McDonald's last year the least I ever got was 10,000 a day. It really does make a difference working in a fast paced position.

Hey sunnflr. I think an average of 7,000+ steps per day is quite impressive. No, I'm not a member of America on the Move. But it does sound pretty cool. Maybe I'll check that out. No, I'm sorry to say I haven't lost any more weight. That's because I've been eating more junk lately and not writing my food down. That is literally the ONLY way I will lose weight--writing every single thing down that I eat. If I'm not writing it, I can guarantee I'm not losing anything. I've got to go to the dr. next week and I can't remember how much I weighed 6 months ago at my last appointment. I hope I'm about the same now that I was then. If I've gained, she WILL mention it.

I wanted one so badly, then we joined AARP and got one for free. So then I immediately lost it!

Hi writersedge. Oh, that's too bad about losing your pedometer. I order mine from Walmart.com. The pedometer I order is the Omron Premium Pedometer and it has a safety clasp. It's actually fastened on in 2 ways. I don't think it could be easily lost. And, I do use the safety clasp--it has prevented the pedometer from falling to the floor when it came unclipped for some reason.

Hello Ms. jillhill. That's wonderful that you get plenty of exercise on your exercise bike. I used to have one a long time ago but we got rid of it before we moved down here 5 years ago. They are fun to ride and offer a different workout from the treadmill. I had gotten rid of my treadmill, too. But after living here 3 years, I said I won't hardly ever get any exercise outdoors because it's so hot out there. So, I went out and bought the cheapest, brand new, treadmill I could find (at the WalMart, of course). Well, I guess a person can get exercise outdoors in FL but it's got to be VERY early morning, unless it's our winter time. Then, you can pretty much walk anytime outdoors. Anyhoo, sorry to hear about your feet hurting, that would not be fun. But at least you can get your workout on the exercise bike!

Hi PearlGrace, I have never worn one, my daughters used to have them but I think they were a novelty thing really. I walk enough anyway and I'm sure going up and down stairs all day with ironing piles and to get toys out of my sons room etc adds up to a fair few paces. Well done for being so displined and using one and the treadmill. Ellie :D

Hey there, ellie. I love my pedometer! It just makes me move more. But I think it's great when people are just naturally active and don't need anything to tell them they need to move more. Sounds like you have a built-in exercise program--your kids. Good for you. Thanks for the compliments. Now, if I could only eat less!

Yes, I have thought about wearing a pedometer! I have no idea which one is a good one to buy! What kind is yours? I have heard that we should walk 10,000 steps per day. I am no where near that. Would be interesting to know how many steps I average per day! This is a great topic! Thanks!

HiLouise. My pedometer is an Omron Premium Pedometer. I order them from Walmart.com. They are the best pedometers. They automatically turn over to 0 at midnight so you never have to worry about re-setting it. They are more expensive than some other pedometers, but, they are also more durable and have a safety clasp, you'll never lose it if you use that second clasp. Plus, the automatic rolling over of the steps is a great feature. Hope you get one.
