MAdayaw! Last weekend was indeed a very2 long, fun weekend for us Davaoenos. (no class? hurray to the students! lol). Friday was declared holiday with regards to Kadayawan Festival, and as we all know yesterday was National Heroes day, (So it was like rest day for us). To give you little info bout this celebration....Kadayawan is a celebration of our city's rich bounty & wonderful cultural diversity. With this years theme, Musanay Lumadnong Kagikan, Yutang Kabilin Panalipdan!" (“Flourishing Indigenous Heritage, Protecting Ancestral Nations”), we try to look back & showcase the lives of indigenous people, the original settlers of our land. For they have played an important role in bringing Davao to where it is right now. Every year, people always anticipate the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan (Street dance) & Floral Float Parade. It's always fun to see elementary kids shake with every beat of native dances. And i tell you, it takes a lot of passion for them to dance at noon time's peak and often nothing on their feet! And talking bout floral parade, gee, you'll be amazed how big trucks turn into colorful floats. Let's just say it's our local version of famous Rose Parade (with Waling-Waling as the "bida" lol). Despite the ongoing conflict that is happening on our neighboring towns, the city officials see to it that we were safeguarded tightly. And what can i say, it did not prevent us from celebrating this 23-year tradition(of course our sympathy goes with the affected civilians and our noble soldiers). This year's Kadayawan Festival proved to be another success.

Yes it is good that you were able to continue on with your festivities there even though it is really not good in other places in Mindanao. You place is a wonderful place I guess minus that insurgency that is happening here and there. You do have problem with the Muslim separatist and the communist as well.
