Are There Other Books Similar to "A Child Called It"? |
|
I read this book and all the others by this author. I was interested in reading something else similar, but wasn't sure if there are any others out there that are similar to this book.
Any recommendations?

1. lilybug (15346) | 1 year ago | There are I think 3 books total by this author all about his childhood and growing up. There is "A Child Called It", "The Lost Boy", and "A Man named Dave". I have read all 3 of them.

Pigglies (5020) | 1 year ago | Actually there are 4 I think. Or 4 I have read at least. I read "A Child Called It", "The Lost Boy", and "A Man named Dave" and also "Help Yourself" I think the last one was called.
But I was wondering if any other authors have written similar books.

lilybug (15346) | 1 year ago | It is not exactly the same type of book, but I liked Sometimes God Has a Kid’s face.
Sometimes God Has a Kid’s face is a heart rending memoir of America’s sexual exploited street kids and ones mans fight to put an end to it. Late October 1966 Bruce Ritter a Roman Catholic Priest finds himself giving a sermon about how college kids need to be more involved in the church and their community After the sermon one college kid tells him he should practice what he preaches. Bruce thinks about what that kid said and sets out to find what later becomes known as the covenant house.

3. milfea (233) | 1 year ago | Hey there pigglies.:)
I haven't read the book, but I've read another book which was written by the same author, Dave Pelzer. I think it's the 3rd trilogy and the concluding piece that he wrote which is entitled, "A Man Named Dave." I liked the honesty of the author, his honesty allows his readers to connect with his emotions. There are a lot of issues in life that I thought about when I read that book. Until now it is still in my head, wrestling and challenging my thoughts.:).
The book entitled, "The Color of Water" by James Mcbride is not very similar to the book by Dave Pelzer, but it is touching similar issues in life. You might just enjoy it.:)

4. Porcospino (2717) | 1 year ago | I read a book called "Sickened" by Julie Gregory. It is about a girl who goes through a lot of pain and suffering because of her mother who is mentally ill (she has a disease called Munchausen by proxi)I read it a while ago and I don't remember the book in details anymore, but it is pretty similar to the story of Dave Pelzer. I'd recommend that book if you don't know it already.
