SAND, now there are many words that I could have added here so is your word SANGRIA. The sun has been shining and I took myself and a friend and her to lads off to the beach for the day. We paddled in the water, got wet and sandy, worn out and had lots of FUN, so what do you like to do when you go the the beach? Play volleyball, sunbathe, or spend all your time in the water. Ellie :D

I love the sea and the beach Ellie. But I can't spend too long on it unless it is an evening barbie or something. I like a paddle and I don't mind a few minutes sunbathing. Mostly I people watch though. My favourite is to find a harbour and sit on the edge with a drink watching the sun sleepily go off to bed. You sound like you have had a great day though. I am sure that all will sleep well tonight.

Hi P1kef1sh, Oh I love to watch the sun go down too and people watch, that is usually quite entertaining. We went to the Donkey Sannctuary first and then spent the reast of the day on the beach at Sidmouth. The boys loved it and so did my friend as she is still learning to drive so it got her out of Exmouth for the day. Crazy we are finally getting some good weather and back to work and school next week. The funniest thing that happened though was hilarious my friends son who is the same age as Jacob was walking in front of me and behind her pushing her youngest one in the pushchair and he suddenly pulled her trousers down and she only had a thong on, she was not too impressed and gave him a real telling off but the lady behind me was in stitches and I was trying to suppress my laughter as she was telling him off but her face was red from more than the sun LOL. I can't stand sand or jellyfish and I can't swim either so the beach is a place you will hardly ever find me, lol! What I like to do at the beach? If I were to be honest I'd say 'leave' but that would be a terribly short answer.
If I have to go to the beach (because otherwise I merely will never go) I like to watch the sunset and walk through the water with my bare feet. The sea has to be calm otherwise I won't do it. There is something peacefull about it.
But like I said, these are rare occaissions.

Thanks for the added on huggles
.
Having a partner there paddling along the shoreline sure is great, it sounds corny but it really is. Especially if he knows first aid
.
LOL... I couldn't resist that one

Hi Cyberfluf, I don't swim in the sea, but I know you have nearly drowned twice so can understand why you don't like it at all but yes a beautiful sunset paddling as you walk along is great especially if you have your partner with you too eh! Very calming and relaxing, but yes I get the LEAVE bit completely here. Ellie :D

Hi ellie,
I grew up near the beach so I love it so much! I love everything there from walking and collecting shells, sitting down while looking at the wonderful sky, get wet and swim, boating and get drown..LOL!
Anyway, I miss it so much, the place where I am not is very very far from the ocean! So, I am imagining only being in the beach this time !lOL!

Hi Ellie.I love to spend time beside the ocean walking over the golden sand, seeing the sea with the two islands, walking on the pier and feeling a soft coastal breeze. I have three different local beaches to choose from. This August had cool and rainy weather but Saturday 30th August was a lovely warm and dry day. I took my toddler son and two dogs for a walk on the pier and to the beach afterwards. Then we did a walk along the pretty coastline. I am glad that you and your friend had a superb time at the beach. Maxine.

Hi Maxine, Yes Friday and Satuday were both fairweather days and so I tried to make the most of them before going back to work yesterday and my son starts school tomorrow. Its great just to get out in the fresh air on the beach whatever the weather really. Ellie :D

Love to walk the beach looking for seashells and sharks teeth. Also, love to swim in that big, beautiful, blue ocean. Third, like to do a little sunbathing. If we are there with relatives or friends, it's so fun to just sit on the beach and chat, chat, chat!

Hi Ellie.
Yes, we have a beach or two nearby that are known for having sharks teeth. I have to think they could be found on many beaches though. It's funny, because the sharks teeth are black. They look like small black arrowheads, sort of. They are triangular shaped and black.
Most people who aren't familiar with them say, "Well aren't sharks teeth white?" But after the teeth are lost, they will eventually turn black, so by the time they are washed up on the beaches, they are black. Some people even make necklaces and things out of them.
Shelling is such fun also. My husband and I take bags to the beach and pick up shells and sharks teeth and have a wonderful time!

I don't go to the beach unless I'm on vacation. Illinois isn't very beachy. But I just like to lay in the sun, get a tan, and have some frozen drinks. My idea of heaven.

Hi Skinnychick, I forget how lucky I am sometimes having a beach on my doorstep really and I tend to spend my time paddling rather than swimming, I like the sun but it doesn't like me as I burn easily so tend to go down to the beach later in the day normally. Ellie :D

I'm one who tries to stay out of the sun. It simply drains me. I don't like the heat and can't tolerate the cold. So, going to the beach isn't a happy medium. Whenever I do go, I make sure I stay under the umbrella in the shade. Late evening is better, as the sun isn't as hot. I live in FL so I stay inside most of the time.

Oooo, I love the ocean. Usually when I went we would body surf and also dig under the water to find shells, starfish and conches. We would walk out on the sand bars until we were on our tippy toes. I've tasted my share of salt water so every time we went to eat afterwards I usually didn't want to salt my food. I also like to people watch, you can put your shades on and scan the beach, usually someone who thinks its okay to wear a Speedo or thong will stroll by, its probably safer to stare into the sun than look at that, especially when they're the only who thinks it looks good.

Hi Gitfiddleplayer, we spent most of our time building sandcastles with large rock walls made from pebbles so they didn't collaspe and paddling and collecting shells, I like to people watch too, it is lovely to see everyone having so much fun. There were a family sat near us and I said to my son only another half darling as Michelle needs to go to ework tonigh and he was obviusly on holiday and he shouted accros that I shouldn't use the work word on the beach and laughed. As much as I hate to admit it, Ellie, the best part of a day at the beach for me is ... fish'n'chips! Yep - it's all about the food - and if we can have an ice cream afterwards, so much the better! I do love walking along the sand and around the rocks looking in the rockpools though. I've tried snorkelling, but I'm a bit panicky about being out of my depth and knowing there are 'things' lurking underneath ... so the battered fish in the newspaper is a safer option!

Wahahhaa, ellie. the thought of going to the beach is a very nice thought. I know how to swim but I am afraid to swim in the deep sea so I just play in the water. Fun Fun BEach Beach. ^^

When the weather was really warm a couple of months ago my friends and i had a few trips to formby beach! We took a bbq and just sat taking in the view and chatting about everything and nothing, it was really good to get away from everything. The last time we went though it started raining, randomly i had a sleeping bag in my car so all three of us huddled in it away from the rain and had a right giggle! Probably not the most sensible thing to do and it probably sounds a bit silly but it was just fun, one of those simple, inexpensive days out that make you feel good, it's one of my happiest memories since i moved up north! Sounds like you had a good day at the beach too, i'm glad you missed the sangria out though, i don't like it! hehe i would have added the word sand to my day at the beach, it gets everywhere, that sleeping bag will forever have bits of sand in it, just can't get rid of them!! hehe xvx

Hi Munchkin, Yes I think we did bring a fair amount of sand back with us too, we were on Simouth beach yesterday but my usual beach is Exmouth and I am sure I have half the beach wihin the car and house at times so I know what you mean about i getting everywhere. Sounds like you had a great day with your friends, thanks for sharing the memory. Ellie :D
