My high speed is in, but they said there is something wrong with my computer be- |

| cause it still isn't going as fast as it should. So they told me to go get it repaired, just what I need, another bill! But having the phone ring while on and not getting kicked off was great! They asked so many questions when they got here. Where do you want me to drill? Do you want above ground (up in the air) or underground? I didn't know what in the world I was supposed to answer. He drilled where the cable had been before into the side of the house. We have above ground. So where did they drill for your line to go into your house (or do you have wireless and how does that work)? Are you above or below ground? | | | | | |

| | I am still using dial up. Haven't decided if or when I want to change to high speed. I'm never in any hurry to load pages although our kids keep telling me I am so outdated with the computer. Our cable is drilled up through the floors upstairs and through the wall downstairs on the ground level. I won't have high speed through our cable. Too many problems losing cable and it can be out for days. Other times it will "tile" which means we can only see bits and pieces of the actual picture. Am sorry to hear your computer needs repairs. That does rather costly. | | | | | | |

| | Our problem is that I can turn it on and either do dishes or a load of laundry before I get a connection. This past week it was so bad, that after I got a connection or my husband got a connection, we were timed out so we had to start again. We restarted our computer as many as three times. Dial-up is kind of dangerous for us, too. My brother has diabetes and when he gets hospitalized, no one can contact me. If anything happened to my husband and he needed me at the hospital, no one could contact me. He's been hurt a lot at work. I couldn't have dial-up any more. So far this has been way better than the phone lines. | | | |

| | We have so many trees, they thought they would have to drill a cable and put it underground. I just let them cut tree branches. I think they should have cut more branches. The computer itself has to go away. They said something is wrong with the actual computer, so we will have to find out what. Even though the computer is faster, it is still way too slow getting started, but not as bad as it was. Start-up is corrupted and has to over-ride something to go. Very good points about the pros and cons of aerial versus underground. Thanks and take care. | | | |

| | Hey writersedge. We have wireless. But, we still have to have the cable box coming in to the house. We have a box in my husband's study, one in our bedroom, and one in the living room. Then, a modem is connected to my husband's cable connection in his study. All his computer equipment, fax, and work printer are connected in there. Then, we have the wireless router connected to the modem for the cable in my husband's study. We then have our laptops set up to "speak" (i.e. exchange airwaves) with the wireless router and our wireless printer, also set up in my husband's study. So, when we want to print something from the laptops, all we have to do, no matter where within range of our wireless router we are (i.e. inside our house anywhere and even out on our lanai in back), all we have to do is use the print software on the computers. Then, the document prints on the printer in the study. Oh, our cable connection outdoors is below ground. Anyhoo, it's all very convenient and we love it. We watch tv sitting in our sofa recliners with our laptops, surfing the internet. Is that living, or what? One time our DSL broke down (not with our current server) and we about had a fit. We just could not hardly stand not having the internet. I mean, it was bad! We went a whole week and admitted we hadn't realized how dependent on the internet we are for our evening entertainment (and of course, for my husband's work). Glad you got your connection and I hope it all works great. Wonder how they knew something was wrong with your computer... | | | | | | |

| | Sounds like you have more computers than people! Wow! They started my computer up and it took 3 minutes to connect, they said that is just plain wrong. It should be instant. But that's better than when I used to be able to wash dishes or clothes while waiting for it to come up. Thanks and take care | | | |
