The month of August is a month of disgust

I had been hearing the above from the time I was a kid. I dont know from where this started but it seems when the Portuguese where in Goa they would start the month of August by making a sweet and having the sweet the first thing in the morning on the 1st day of August. If any one of you know the reason for this please share with us here.
This month has been awfully bad for me. It started with severe back pain because of a near accident that I had. A lorry had hit be from behind and I had the back pain for several days. I still get a pain sometimes when I am very tired in the evenings. A few days later my son was also hit by a lorry and had his leg fractured. Just two days after his accident my daughter fell off the train. Luckily the train was just halting at the station so she was not badly hurt.
Due to this was depressed and then ended up with fights with my friends which I have already mentioned in my earlier discussions.
My net was down for nearly a fortnight so I could not mylot much. Plus could not get in touch with my friends and family regularly. Because my net was down I have not yet reached payout. I am nearly there so there are chances of me making it tomorrow but not too sure.

i am hearing this for first time.but the month of august was not good for me too.my hubby kost his job as a result of whitch there were tensions in the house and akk were snapping at each other.both my kids were not well.one had typhoid and other was down with viral fever.i too was not well,on the whole it was a bad month for me.hope september will be good.

I am sorry to hear this dear. Sometime untoward things come in clusters and we have no clue as to WHY ME? You all take care and be careful. My wishes are with you and your family. I am sure you will overcome this and September will be a month of happiness and fun for you.

You talking about clusters! Accidents, misunderstandings, fight, depression, and i dont know what else happened. I think you have had an idea of my mood changes last month. Anyway started this month with a nice big smile on my face and hope the smile stays there for a long long time.

Mayka, I'm very sorry to hear about the month of August being an unfortunate one for you. That is quite a lot that you have had to go through and it must have been a torrid time. I hope that all this is now behind and the new month brings good news and happiness. I'm very sure you have the best wishes of all your friends here in mylot.

By some strange coincidence the worst incidents of my life have happened in the month of August. So I guess there is some fear in me when this month approaches and I just wait for the month to get over. Now this is all behind me and just look forward to better days.

Well I can honestly say that August went well for me. I got settled in to the new house I am staying in and even got a job. I'm sorry to here that you had a bad month. I hope it has improved since you posted this.

No. about this story I am now aware. I so sorry that you and your children had a bad August. I knew about that all, how also they have recovered from their incidents and they are okay. I believe the life is pushing you a lot and made line of stress this month. And I dont believe on worst month concept. But I am worried as my friend has got a bad month here this time, my prayers for speedy recovery for all of you.
Here you need to take it positive way by thanking god that you have escaped with little. Normally i used to do like that. And be cautios for the following days atleast for a months time and play it safe my friend.
I am really worried of your last month !!!
Come up, the balance months are left for you to succeed and recover !!!!

By some strange coincidence some of the most bitter experiences of my life have been in the month of August. This has made me dread this month. As soon as the month of July comes to an end I try to play safe and make sure nothing goes wrong anywhere. But then still practically every year I have something to cry about. Have started this month with a smile and hope the next four months of this year pass away smiling.

I am really sorry to read about all of the bad things that has happened to you as well as your family. This month has been alright. Except for the heat here in my state. My birthday was on the 15th. My body has a hard time dealing with the heat and hot weather due to having multipls sclrosis. My body gets shakey at times. I most of the time stay at home out of the heat. Except for yesterday I went with my mother to go get prescrptions filled. I look foward to the weather getting cooler in about October or November when it gets cooler.

Sorry to hear about your health. So the heat must be really bad for you. Here too its very hot because we have not had proper rains. We too are waiting for October/November when the weather will be cooler. All the best.

Hi mayka,
So sorry to hear that. Hmm.. may be life is testing u as it does everytime. But as the saying goes its not about how hard you can hit.Its about how hard u can get hit".
Life is always challenging and we have to make sure that we win most of the battles. For me the month of Feb was awful this year becoz my elder brother was assaulted by a group of men.
I hope everything settles down well and u have a terrfic year ahead.

It is really painful and sad to hear that you had a torrid time in the month of August, all things went against you. I think, it is really bad that you had to face difficulties one after another. But please cheer up, it is said that there is always a light at the end of a tunnerl. Please be positive (in your thinking), things will improve soon and the new month of September will bring happiness and cheers for you. The wrost might already be over and you are very courageous to face the ups and downs in your life.

Well i dont know why Piutguese do that, but sure i believe that No Month, No Day, No date, No time is Bad
things happened in Life and its only a cooincidence that it happened u in sequence in this month
but if u look at in a way that despites of all accidents and proble, u and ur kids are safe, and doing good.
Just Sit back, relax and Pray to God and sure u will feel satisfactiond and trust me Sincere prayers keep u safe from many bad things

I agree that no month, no day, no date and no time can be bad but most of the bad incidents in my life have been in the month of August. It may be just coincidence but the last 25 years experiences have taught me to dread the month of August. I am just happy when the month comes to an end. And thanks for your long reply. the month of August for my son and myself was bad, is bad, a nd I see no light yet. He lost his job, and I am handicapped and cannot work hence no money, our rent is due, bills, I am sick with worry and need some help somewhere from someone. pray for me please in my 81 years have never been in such trouble.

Hatley, I believe your son will qualify for unemployment, and because you are 81 and disabled, I would think that you are eligible for something. Have him go to unemployment as well as social services. Good luck!

I did not know this about August, but I must agree that it is true. You see, during the month of August my daughter had a pap smear that came back with abnormal cells and she has an appointment in Oct. to find out if the cells are cancerous, my 3 year old grandaughter found out she had 2 cavities at her dental check up and I fell down just walking around the car and had a bad sore on my knee that has just healed up. And, my brother lost his job and has now gone back to work. It was a bad month I agree.

I hope all your bad days are behind you now and your knee is absolutely fine. And your daughter and granddaughter are both okay. This is a saying I had heard when I was a kid and have always dreaded the month of August. Ofcourse it is not every year that something happens but still the fear is there.

Oh hmm, the very first day of August, our former President Cory Aquino, who is loved by all has passed on. She was the Mother of Democracy in the country and she's the only politician that I genuinely trust. Today is her burial and watching the news as I type this, she has passed the threshold to the Manila Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest.
I also have MidTerm exams starting tomorrow up to Saturday, and Im already worried about my grades. I feel that I might fail some of them.
Aside from that I am also laden with substantial amount on debt, which started only this month. I wish to pay them off after the exams so I will be worry free. I really dont like to be in debt, even if its just a small amount.
Anyway, I guess we all have our grievances and stating from your discussion, it just so happened that those untoward events has centered on a certain month. Maybe that would serve as a guide for you to be able to anticipate things for August of next year. I will also try my best to get through to this month.
