Yes, it is true. The election that counts is the Electoral College voting just after the election by we voters. Here's an analysis of how that is going. http://chronicle.augusta.com/stories/090808/edi_472427.shtml I say the trend is clearly swinging toward McCain / Palin, even in the Electoral College. What do you say?

It does look like people are finally starting to see that Obama really offers nothing, not in the promised change, and not in the future of a better America. All he offers is more socialism and decay.

Yes, those who don't believe it need to pay closer attention or thoughtfully read THE AUDACITY OF HOPE.

I can only hope and pray it stays that way. We still have time for it to swing again either way.

Oh yeah, you are definitely right about this. I'd say this lead in the polls is quite tentative.

Judging by the title you used for this post, for a minute there I thought that this was some bizarre pseudo political star trek type angle! lol. I would ahve to agree that the trend is swinging in this direction as well. When you also take into account that the Democrats will end up with the most power in the government regardless of who is elected it is not necessarily about the party behind the man anymore; it is more about who is the best man for the job. Based on this, even die hard Democrats can still vote for McCain with somewhat of a clear conscience because even with a Republican President the Democrats will still be the majority overall.

"Judging by the title you used for this post." Part of my entertainment each day is coming up with tabloid type copy. This amuses me without fail. As to the majority of the national govenment being of one party while the President is of another is the only way the USA government ever functions close to as it should. Remember Bill Clinton's balanced budget? He fought this tooth and nail, even though the country benefited immensely from it and Clinton now claims he was for it and responsible. The Republicans forced this on Clinton just to demonstrate the difference between themselves and Clinton. But what happened during the time the Republicans later held all the cards? That's right, record budget deficits all around. The only way Americans have a chance is to split the power of the government between the 2 parties so they compete with each other to try to be best. Either one gets complete control and the country suffers for it.

Stalemated, gridlocked government is the best government of all. Do you know what Will Rogers said that applies here? "Thank God we do not get all the government we pay for!".

I am still trying to learn more on the two party system as my home country of Australia doesn't follow the same formula. Our government structure is similar to Britain. NOT having equal parts at all times is not really democratic at all so it is no suprise the country suffers as a result. And even WITH equal parts of each there are more often than not stalemates on many issues because party loyalty can often cast a shadow over common sense. It's sort of a damned if they do, damned if they don't situation really. Maybe "Successful Government" is meant to be a permanent oxymoron?

McCain's 35 electoral college gain compared to Obama's 29 gain? I think you're right, something is hitting the fan in donkey land.
