Wow! I Just Learned Something New~~Duh |
| |
| I was responding to a discussion how even though one might be a good speller, there are always a few pesky words that one always seems to misspell. Well I was reading through the other responders to the discussion and just learned something. Now I don't know if Internet Explorer has this feature, but whenever you spell a word wrong and you're using Firefox, which I do, the misspelled word is underlined in red. Okay THAT I knew. What I didn't know was this. If you catch a word that is underlined in red, meaning misspelled, if you click on the word and right click a dialog box crops up with the right spelling Well I have a Mac computer...our mouse is left click only...to do any of the right clicking type methods, one has to know which key to press and left click. So I gave is a shot. I purposely misspelled a word...clicked Control and left clicked, and holy moly, sure enough a dialog box cropped up with the right spelling...not only that, but when you click on the right spelling of the word in the dialog box, it automatically corrects the word in the sentence! Like duh? I DIDN'T KNOW THIS! Okay please tell me I'm not the only one to just discover this feature...did you know about it? Do you constantly learn new things about your computer even though you might want to think your a computer geek? | | | | | |

| | She is correct, just go to Firefox.com and you can download it for free. It is pretty great. Has anyone tried Google's Chrome yet? | | | |

| | Google chrome has same spell checker! If you intend to use chrome to upload pictures here, you will be disappointed, use firefox instead. The chrome is still in beta, so wait for the tested version. | | | |

| | I don't think Internet explorer has that.....and it would be a good feature to have. So many times I think I have spelled something wrong but there is not spell check here so it's up to my trusty dictionary...and that is a pain sometimes. But it would very nice to have this feature! | | | | | | |

| | I knew that Firefox underlined the misspelled words, but I did not know that you could right click and get the correct spelling. That is really cool. I always go to Google and look up the spelling of a word if I cannot figure it out on my own. You just saved me some time! | | | | | | |

| | I have a built in dictionary in my computer system and you click on it to get the correct spelling...problem..if you don't know how to spell it right in the first place it doesn't help much...so I'm glad I discovered this feature | | | |

| | That is why I always used Google. When searching in Google you can spell it really off and usually it will say "do you mean....?" and give me the right spelling. | | | |

| | I have not experienced doing this. I mean when I got the word misspelled, I just changed it in the usual way that is erasing and typing again the new word. May be I'll try, lol. The fastest the better, lol. Happy mylotting! | | | | | | |

| | Yup...this is so much easier to do than trying to change the word a dozen times until you get the right spelling. | | | |

| | I didn't know this, mainly because I didn't activate the spelling feature. But I have a Mac, too, and use a two-button Logitech scroll mouse with it, so I could right click if I absolutely had to. | | | | | | |
