I love shoes. My little 2,1/2 year old grand daughter - she loves shoes! High heels and princess shoes for sure!! So she is always wanting to try on my shoes. We have alot of fun. So I just have to share this funny story -
About 3 years ago when my 8 yo GD was in kindergarten, she got a pair of black Mary Janes - you know, like a loafer with a strap across the top that buckles? Just the all time classic shoe that never goes out of style. Well, she got a pair of black ones. Oddest thing, she for some reason, called them "nanny steppers" Now, the girls call me Nanny instead of grand ma, but when I asked her why she calls them "nanny steppers" she didn't have an answer and at the time I didn't have a pair, so I have no idea where she got that name. Anyway, it stuck with me. So now, all these years later, I got the 2 year old a pair! And just last week, I found me a pair (with high heels of course!) and I showed them to her and she just went all gushy and oh'ed and ah'ed at them and tried them on and everything. Next day she came over nad I had a pair of green ones on. She loved them to, but demanded that I put my black ones on. So she went to my closet, found the black ones and demanded I put the black "nanny steppers" on like hers so we could match. I did, but as she watched me, she noticed I had nylons on and she had never seen them before. Mommy wears NOTHING but flip-flops and I have just started wearing the dressier shoes more often. So she was amazed at the nylons as she could see my feet through them and everything.
Of course she wanted some!! So she asked me about them and I told her they were nylons. She asked me "can I wear manlongs with my nanny steppers?" I told her she'd have to ask Daddy!!!!
These kids are just the greatest at keeping us on our high heeld toes!!! Just had to share that as it happened a few days ago and I still laugh at it!

LOL I love that :) Kids find some strange names for things, but usually they have a logic to it.
My daughter used to love nanny steppers. There was a time where the only shoes she would wear were those ones:)
And often she would wear manlongs with them hehehehe there used to be those opaque ones of many different colors for kids and she would wear them depending on which dress she had. She was very good a color coordinating her outfits :)
Personally I am not the biggest fan of manlongs and I wear them only when the outfit or the occasion demands it.

Kids are the best, aren't they?! My 2yo is really intent on color cooridination. She insists that we drees alike and will go in my closet and find something for me to wear to match her or go to her drawer of clothes I keep her, adn find something that matches her! I got a fashionista on my hands!!!

Coffeebreak, you could be the next Art Linkletter! Kids certainly do say the darndest things and you have a couple of true artists! By the way, did you know Crocs comes in a Mary Jane style? They do. I'd love to have a pair. Wish I had a little granddaughter around to share them with!

I could sit all day long and chat with my girls. They are so amazing and the things the learn and hear and pick up - keeps me in stitches and smiles on my face! The 2 yo one learned the word "disgusting" and says it with the usual drool of ickniess, and says something like "Oh, it's just dizustin" or something similar... I was laughing to hard to really pick up the sounds for the spelling
I keep a journal of all the things they say like this. Will give it to them when they marry or I die..which ever comes first!

I just have some really comfortable flat sensivle fabric shoes that I love. I bought them in Arizona. They are falling apart, and for when they totally fall to bits, I have another pair, set aside. I love these shoes, and when the other pair falls apart, I don't know what I'll do. That's why I'm holding onto these, for as long as I can.

I got apair of slippers with a nylon sole for wearing around the house to save on the carpet cleaning and they are so comfortable. Went back to get another pair to hold on to when these "die" and of course they didn't have my size. Few months later, went back and there on the sale rack for $5 a pair were two pair! So I grabbed them both! Never hurt to be stocked up!
