Carly Fiorina Cries "Sexism" !

This is what McCain surrogate Carly Fiorina told Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC regarding Tina Fey's hilarious impersonation of Sarah Palin on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live: "The portrait was very dismissive of the substance of Sarah Palin, and so in that sense, they were defining Hillary Clinton as very substantive, and Sarah Palin as totally superficial. I think that continues the line of argument that is disrespectful in the extreme, and yes, I would say, sexist in the sense that just because Sarah Palin has different views than Hillary Clinton does not mean that she lacks substance." http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/15/fiorina-calls-snl-impersonation-of-palin-sexist/ Huh??? Has Fiorina ever seen SNL before? Does she know that it's a comedy, that there are frequently cast members who imitate real people, often in an exaggerated manner, to make the audience LAUGH? Is she aware that Hillary Clinton has often been the brunt of their jokes and has taken it in the humorous way it was intended and not with cries of sexism? For what it's worth, perhaps someone should tell Carly that men have frequently been portrayed as "lacking substance" on SNL so it's not something that's limited to female political figures. George W. Bush comes to mind. Annie

Annie, don't you know that most conservatives have had a humor-ectomy? lol I thought it as a perfect piece of comedy. The jabs at Clinton were even funny to me, and I adore her. Sexist? No way. Disrespectful? No way, again. SNL lives to make fun of people. All people. From goofy teens to Presidents, Prime Ministers, Kings and Queens. Nobody is left out. Frankly, I don't watch it that much anymore. But I watched it from the beginning, and for years afterwards. If Ms. Fiorina was looking for anything other than comedy on SNL, she was tuned in to the wrong show!

There are people who lack a sense of humor on both sides. Have you forgotten that Bill Clinton was offended by their jokes about him? I think he's the only president over the last 20 years who didn't make an appearance on the show because he was so offended. Even Bob Dole of all people came on the show.

For those who think that Conservatives don't have a sense of humor, Take a look at this video. I think it is Hilarious and I am not a big fan of lisanova. But this is great satire. As for SNL. I've tried to watch it, but it just isn't even interesting, let alone funny. The actors are obviously reading cue cards. Tina Fey is a genius though, I love "30 Rock" And I even love Alec Baldwin despite his being so outspoken against everything I believe in. But over all I'm a MadTV guy myself. Here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-QevraCQUc Warning if you don't want to hear foul language, cover your ears. They use a bunch of it.

Yeah, the whole point of the show is to mock people. I remember the way George H.W. Bush loved Dana Carvey's impressions. He appeared on the show twice and even invited Dana to the White House. I mean, Janet Reno APPEARED on the show and they had a MAN, Will Ferrel, playing her. I really hope McCain doesn't call the show sexist. That would just undermine his past claims. On a side note it was an excellent skit. I loved the way Hillary immediately brought attention to the Obama pin as evidence she's supporting him. It's too bad the rest of the show was downright awful. I really miss the good ole days when I could actually sit through an entire episode.

I am so glad you pointed this out, Taskr. It's nice to recognize that Republicans can have a sense of humor too, no thanks to idiots in the media.

I don't think some people realise Jokes if it was handed to them on a plate..obviously this one doesn't at all...lol..

Well, I guess it's not permitted to lampoon the Queen...unless it makes her look good. Geez, they even did Hillary while she was THERE and I thought taht bit between her and SNL's Hillary was a riot. Some people have no sense of humor I guess.

I liked how they did that quote from Palin saying that she once dressed up at Fey on Halloween. While I was watching that I was like WTF is sexist about that. GRASPING!

Wow, that's pretty hilarious. Not to mention, this is Tina Fey we're talking about. Is Ms. Fiorina honestly accusing Tina Fey of being sexist when she is as successful as she is, despite the fact that she's a woman, because of her talent as a comedian? Wow. On another note, I missed this episode. Damn.

Well women can be sexist too. Trust me, I've seen plenty of it on mylot. There are many liberal women who are 100% supportive of sexism when it's directed at conservative women. Just look at NOW.

It was not sexism, they do things like that all of the time on SNL. It is a comedy show. This happens quite often. They do this to any and all politicians. Fiorina and Mitchell need to watch every episode of SNL to see that this is what normally happens on the show.

I think Andrea Mitchell knows it wasn't sexist. At least, since she works for NBC and SNL is an NBC show I think she has some idea of what it's about but poor Carly really doesn't have a clue these days! Annie

I don't think that the attacks against Sarah Palin are sexist. They are Conservative-ist. They don't like conservative no matter what. They say they are for womens rights, but really they mean Liberal Womens Rights.

I don't think the attacks, if they can even be called attacks, against Palin are because she's a woman or a conservative but rather because some of us just don't like what she stands for or like her attitude and personality. Annie

You know what, I'm getting tired of being accused of things I haven't done! Leading WHAT charge? If I choose to disagree with Sarah Palin or any other political figure of either gender or any race, I'll do so and I have every right to. If asking questions about someone's policies or record or stating that I think she's wrong on some of the issues are attacks or leading some imaginary "charge", so be it. I don't go around making a habit of disrespecting other myLot members who happen to disagree with me as long as they give me that same respect. Annie
