It's planned, at least

My dreamhouse is so thoroughly planned that the blueprints have been drawn and certified by the architects and engineers already. Unfortunately, the deal for the land on which to build it fell through, and I really don't want to live there anymore. Now I'm just a few years from retirement, and then my husband and I plan to seek a new place to live away from here.
The house remains our dream. It's primarily glass and open spaces, with a huge kitchen and master suite, as well as shelving on every solid wall, so the whole house is a library of sorts. While there will certainly be a guest area, we want it, more than anything, to enjoy being alone at home.

The more I read about it, the better it sounds! Maybe we could stay indoors when it's cold?

Thank you. Sometimes I get out the blueprint just to have a little boost. We're determined to find a place to live out our retirement years happily.

We'll find a place by the time retirement comes along. That's still almost five years away, so there's a lot of searching time.
Thanks for the good wishes.

I agree that a dreamhouse should have lots and lots of bookshelves - that's the most important thing! My husband and I are retiring soon - hopefully within the next year or two - and we are going to downsize dramatically as we no longer need all these bedrooms, or two bathrooms to clean! I would love somewhere that looked out over water - very low maintenance and very small. We'll be buying something readymade, though - I'm too impatient to wait until something's built, and it would be a nuisance to have to find somewhere to live in the meantime and have our stuff in storage. Good luck on finding another suitable block of land soon!

Thanks! I hope you're able to find exactly what you want. Here in the US, most of the oceanside properties have gone to high-rise condos. Actually, they're not a bad idea if you want to be rid of property maintenance, but there's always a group who tells everyone else how they have to live!

We want to get out of Florida, or at least out of south Florida. A friend in a tiny town outside Ocala was planning to sell us a parcel from his several hundred acres outside Ocala, but he passed away recently without anything about it in his will, and his children don't want to sell. We want to live quietly and peacefully, and that's become impossible in this part of Florida. As soon as we plan to hunt for a new location.Missya,
Joanne
