My home country has the Union Jack design: red, white and blue. I think it is a busy design and I prefer a more simple flag. I once saw another traveler's backpack and it was covered in mini sew of badges of all the countries he had traveled to. I once heard from a lady in Finland a lovely explanation of her country's flag.
What is your home country's flag like?
Do you think it looks good?

I am from Australia. Our flag is navy blue in colour. It has the Union Jack (UK flag) in the top left hand corner which symbolises our history as British colonies. Below that is a large white star with seven points, known as the Commonwealth Star. The points originally represented the six original colonies, and now our six states, and there is an extra point to represent our territories. On the left right hand side is a constellation of five stars. This is the Southern Cross which is often visible in Australian skies.
I love our Aussie flag - to me it means national pride and home.

The flag of my country, Romania, has three equal vertical bands of blue (hoist side), yellow, and red.
Ever since I was very little, I was told that the blue is the symbol of the sky, covering us, the yellow stands for the ripe cereal fields that extend across the plains of our country, while the red color stands for the blood shed by the heroes to defend the nation along the time.

As I am the same country as you my friend I share the Union Jack and yes it is quite convoluted pattern which is made up of the saints. It's unusual and I actually like it because it's different and not just plain, having just one or two colours is less eye catching than a flag with design and stars etc on it.

Hello friend. The flag of the People's Republic of China is the "Five-Starred Red Flag. I love our flag and I am proud of seeing it flying. The flag was designed by Zeng Liansong, an economist and artist from Rui'an, Zhejiang Province. I have been working in this province for more than ten years. And I am glad that the flag was designed by a Zhejiangese. It owes to your discussion that I managed to find this information. Thank you for your nice discussion.

My flag is the stars and stripes of the U.S. I like the symbolism of it. The stripes representing the original 13 colonies and the stars representing the 50 states. Originally, the stars were supposed to remain at 13 and the stripes added for each state. Can you imagine? I'm glad they swtiched it up.
But I also love the Portuguese flag. It is red and green with a gold seal at the center. The red is for the blood shed and the green is for the hope for the future. The seal representes the initial kingdoms which formed the Portuguese nation at its inception. It is a beautiful and unique flag. So many flags repeat the same colors and same designs, the Portuguese flag stands out in a crowd.
Flags are so important. They are symbols of the country for which they stand, but also they are rallying points. Seeing your flag flown inspires something in people. Seeing it desecrated does the same thing. When you hurt the symbol, you hurt the people. A flag is more than just a piece of fabric with pretty designs.

My home countries flag has the blue, red and white color. It has 3 stars on the white side that represents the 3 major geographical division and the sun with the 8 primary rays represents the 8 provinces that sought independence from Spain. Those colors and symbols has stories and which made me love the design of the flag.
