Believe it or not I researched this before because my son wanted to know so I helped him to find the information on the internet. According to what we found Winnie is a boy.

Pooh is a boy, of course. You only have to read A.A.Milne's original stories to be absolutely clear about it! In fact, the only female character is Kanga, as far as I recall (unless you consider some of Rabbits multitudinous Friends and Relations). Why would anyone ever consider Pooh to be a girl? Now, Christopher Robin is another matter. I had serious concerns, as a child, with his almost dress-like shirt!

I think Winn the Pooh isd a boy. The reason why I think this, is because of the character voice.

Hi Red, I never really thought about this until your question. I would think the Pooh is a boy. Looks and behavior totally like a boy! (or male) I asked my 6-year old nephew; he said Pooh is a boy; however his 3-year old sister insisted that Pooh is a girl!

In A.A. Milne's original story, Winnie the Pooh's name is supposedly Edward Bear. It's quite funny because the issue of Pooh's gender was also brought up. Let me type it up: "Here is Edward Bear coming downstairs now, bump, bump, bump, on the back of his head, behind Christopher Robin. (skip a few lines) Anyhow, here he is at the bottom, and ready to be introduced to you. Winnie-the-Pooh. When I first heard his name, I said, just as you are going to say, 'But I thought he was a boy?' 'So did I,' said Christopher Robin. 'Then you can't call him Winnie?' 'I don't.' 'But you said--' 'He's Winnie-ther-Pooh. Don't you know what ther means?'" Hahah well, I don't know what "ther" means, but I guess it means that although Edward Bear is introduced as Winnie, he is a boy.

haha.. Winnie the pooh is a boy, because he dun have his pants on.. lol =D He's only wearing a red vest always but not any pants.. lol =D Though most cartoon characters are female, but winnie the pooh is different, having a female name but a male gender.. hehe

He's a toy and that's the whole point don't you think? It's sexless so that each child can identify with Pooh. But Personally I always felt he was a he.

If you look into why the stories of Winnie was written it is obvious it is a boy. As previously stated, all the characters are except Kanga. Christopher Robin was a read little boy. His father told him stories about his stuffed animals. The father recorded the stories and these became what we know of as the Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. As they were stories for a little boy, all the characters except the mother figure are boys!
