We used to call the comics "funnies". They're not funny anymore...

Am I the only one or are the funny papers not funny anymore? Sure, you have things like Dennis the Menace and Peanuts (Charlie Brown) but even those have taken a more serious tone. The only one that's consistently funny is The Family Circus and even that has a serious tone about half the time. I wish comics were funny again.

En, my friend, i agree with you. I wish comics were funny again, too. In fact, it is not a very easy thing because we see many comic films and hear many comic dialogures. Now the composers of comics don't have so many good or interesting ideas to satisfy our stardard which has been set up very high.

Yes, you are right, my friend. Now that there are not real comics, why don't we create comics by ourselves? Life is full of laughter and comics and dialogues, if we want, we can find many funny things.

I suppose there are only so many funny jokes in the world, and if they're not wanting to repeat them then they run out!

The Family Circus is consistently funny and has been for for 48 years. Bill Keane has something special, if he could bottle and sell it he'd be a multi-billionaire!

I've never heard of that one, but my little one is a big big fan of the Beano.

I don't read many of them anymore. They are too serious.

This is the time when we need smiles and laughter!! Too many of the comic strips are political, though, it seems we can't escape from reality anymore. Even a lot of the tv shows are reality based.

I have noticed that too. It is a shame. I used to read the funnies daily. But now, I only occasionally read Family Circus. The only thing I read in that section of the paper is my horoscope. That is sometimes funnier than the funnies

Horoscopes are very funny! Mine is usually so way off the mark that it's actually amusing. I like Dear Abby, I read her after the couple of comic strips I look at.

Yes, I agree.. They are not funny at all anymore! I never really see where they were funny at in the first place. The only thing, I would do is smile when a statement is made or so. You are right about this, they are not funny anymore..

This, at a time when we need laughter. I guess we have to make our own funnies in our heads, or laugh at the absurdity of our lives.

Yep, I remember the 'funnies'. I loved Sundays because we got 2 papers delivered that day and each had different 'funnies'. My sister and I would sprawl out on the floor and read them. And they WERE funny! It does seem that, these days, there has to be a moral lesson in everything, even comics. That's sad. Comics are supposed to be funny! If you look up the word 'comic' it will back up that fact. That's why I rarely read comics anymore. If I want 'funny', I'll turn on the TV and watch a sitcom like Friends or Seinfeld. THEY are funny with no moral lessons. Sometimes you just want funny!

I never really "got" Seinfeld but then I came in late. I'd watch it when I worked the graveyard shift. It was funny in a way and I enjoyed the fact that it was about nothing. It wasn't a big favorite with me, though. I never watched Friends although I hear it was a great show. When I was little I'd read Terry and the Pirates and The Phantom, I loved the adventures. Also, Prince Valiant. But when I subscribed to the paper last year, the Prince was pretty boring to me. Peanuts is the same old, same old and politics has crept into everything. Well, there's plenty left to laugh about, just not in the funny papers!
