Bills - How do you pay them? Internet, checks, automatic payment? |
| |
| What method of payment do you use for your monthly bills? I would have to say that for about 75% of my monthly bills, I pay over the internet. I only use automatic payment for one bill. I would probably use auto payment more but I have had the billing company make mistakes so I prefer not to use auto payment. I only reserve checks for companies that a) I don't trust their payment website b) Company only takes checks (i.e property manager). So, what method of payment do you use? | | | | | |

| | I use internet banking and auto payment for over 95% of the bills I need to pay. The others are not offering either of the mentioned options as of yet or I would definitely use them that way as well. The price of postage is a killer these days. | | | | | | |

| | Now, I must say that your method of payment is probably the best way. Unfortunately, some of my payments go to another state - love to take vacation time every month to make a road trip out of paying my bills though! | | | |

| | There's only two things I can't pay on line. The truck payment (stupid cuz it's at the same bank as checking) and the rent. Used to be able to pay rent on line but it's one of the con's to having moved. | | | | | | |

| | That does sound a little ridiculous with your truck payment. All the places I have rented from only take checks, which I find a little annoying - oh, well. | | | |

| | I thought it was rather strange that my former landlord who is one of the "smaller" ones in town would take rent payments on line and this one is much larger and will not....perhaps I should send them a letter with the web site on how to do that. Now that's an idea.....and the bank? It's because the truck loan is in my husband's name and therefor, I can't deal with it at all. They even send the balance out in an envelope....what, like I'm not gonna open the envelope when I get out the door? Waste of paper.....oh and I know this doesn't apply to the tread but speaking of a waste of paper, I got a refund for 15 cents on my husband's air card for the lap top.....15 cents.... | | | |

| | Uh - life is full of crazy little things. Some of it makes sense but alot of times it just doesn't. You reminded me though when you talked about your husband and the truck. About a month after my husband and I got married, I had to call our health insurance company concerning a bill that my husband had incurred. Anyway, I am the primary on the insurance so I call up the insurance company. They asked his birthdate to verify me. Okay, now I knew his birthdate and how old he was but I quess I never really knew the year he was born right off the top of my head. So, here I am fumbling around and finally, did the math to get the year. The insurance lady had a good laugh when I explained to her why it took so long. Boy, did I feel stupid and believe me, hasn't happened since!! Anyway, totally off the topic but funny story about finances and being married! | | | |

| | I'm agreeing with you on the strange things of being married.....but this is rather sad. My husband was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. With all the doctor appointments and all the trips around town picking up medication, I'm VERY used to giving out his birthdate. So the other day, I had to pick up medication of my own. When asked my birthdate, I gave his instead of mine. Now that's funny! The pharmacist laughed and then made a comment because his birthday is the day after mine! She figured that's why I made the mistake and I said no, I've just been giving it out a lot lately. LOL. Add me to friends? I'm not sure how to do that, just joined today. | | | |

| | I am very sorry to hear about your husband. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts. I hope things will start looking up once the medication kicks in. I sent you a friend request just now. I haven't logged in for a few days. I just clicked on your username, which brought me to your profile. Once I was there, there was a button for "Add as Friend". I noticed you are in Wausau - I grew up in Appleton! | | | |

| | The internet is my preferred method for paying bills. My printer is broken, and alI bought a new one, I haven't installed it yet. That means I can't print out statements, so I don't feel quite as comfortable as usual. But paying online through my bank still works out well for me. I hate having to write checks and wait for them to clear so check them off in the register. Mail gets lost or delayed too often, and is too easy to steal. | | | | | | |

| | I usually run into my printer "out of ink" - arghhh. Waiting for checks to clear is the worst. I do the finances here and I also hate having to wait for any check to clear. | | | |

| | I still mail in my payments monthly. Only recently have I started paying a few bills online. It's quick and convenient. I really think I'm going to start paying more that way. | | | | | | |

| | I only pay my rent by check. I have three bills that are auto pay from my checking account, and everything else I pay online through the creditors website. My electric bill was the last bill that I was able to set up online, previously they did not have online payments. I have been doing this for quite some time, and have never had a problem. | | | | | | |

| | For the most part I would say 90% I use automatic payment for, and have no problems. Some of the other places I either use a Money Order, or pay cash if they are somewhere close. I have not had checks in a long time, and prefer doing it this way which is so much easier as well. And if it is a site online where I do cannot use my CC, or Debit Card, I use paypal. | | | | | | |

| | I usually pay for all my bills with regular snail mail, at least that leaves a paper trail and can't get lost in cyberspace! Although I may convert to internet payments if the price of postage goes up very much. | | | | | | |

| | I do like the paper statements. One of my problems with snail mail was that I would forget until a couple days before it was due. This was how I first started paying online since I didn't want it to be late! Thanks for your input. | | | |

| | I pay all the bills possible over the internet. The ones I pay by check is because they dont offer on line paying. I wish they all did thou. I hate buying stamps and it seems when it is time to send one out Im of course out of stamps! Trying to think but I think that only 3 bills have to be sent out. I love the ease of on-line paying. I however refuse to do automatic payments, as we truely live check to check and sometimes there just isnt the money at that time and I have to wait a day or so to have the money to pay. | | | | | | |
