Have you tried eyebrow threading? Your eyebrow is shaped using cotton thread. I just tried it for the first time today at an Indian salon. The Indian lady who threaded my eyebrow was a real expert. She did mine in less than 5 minutes. It is said that it lasts longer than waxing or tweezing your eyebrow. I did experience some redness aroung the eyebrows but it went away after an hour or so. Do you have any such experience? How do you like it?

I learned something new today. Never heard of eyebrow threading. I have had my eyebrows waxed and have red, swollen eyes for a day or so afterwards. My skin is so sensitive. I cheat and use a razor once in awhile. My eyebrows have basically quit growing and am sure this is age related. In order to shape them just a little bit, I trim underneath and above so the shape is still in tact. I don't delete them from my face..lol I wear a little bit of pencil but don't overload them either because that looks silly and clownlike on my face, atleast.

Glad you learned something new. It is very popular in the East, but just gaining popularity in the West. Even famous celebrities such as Liz HUrley, Glen Close and Brad Pitt does threading! And it is suitable for all skin types, even for sensitive skin. It does not use any chemicals in the process and thus there is less chance of skin irritation from waxing or tweezing. Don't ever delete it from your face LOL! I find those with tatooed and extensive penciled eyebrows to be so awful. I do a bit of pencil sometimes too, but not too much.

I guess it is individual preference when it comes to tattooing. I personally do not like it. Maybe the ones I saw looks completely unnatural. I hope I still have my eyebrows in old age.

You wont believe that i have perfect eyebrows not too think now too thick , but it is of the perfect thickness which suits my face , everybody will ask whether did i do threading , i would say no well its just natural one , im in a safer side because i cant bear the pain of waxing as well as threading , i think waxing will last longer than threading , but both cause pains while doing them , all my friends do threading , for some people it grows once in a month and for many people it grows twice a month , if they start doing it once and stop it , they look like devil lol.. they have that thick hair formed around the eyebrow which makes them look awkward..

Oh You are so lucky. I know some people have all the great features while others strive hard to look good. How I envy! You need not do all these things, waste money on things that are painful! LOL! I'd probably let it grow like a jungle sometimes, and just go for threading only for special ocassions.

Never tried it. The practice actually originated from the Chinese. It's also not usually for the eyebrows but that also includes it, and the whole face - since the beauty of the face was (and is) very important to them. I think I'd stick with the less painful alternatives :D threading WILL make you cry.

I never knew where it originated from, India, China or Middle East. The Persians do it to remove hair on the body. The Indian do it till today. But I have not seen it done by a Chinese yet. So I really don't know its origin.
I though I would cry badly when I saw some of the other people before me in the queue wince during the session. BUt I was surprised when I actually didn't. Tweezing makes me cry badly.

I guess we respond to different methods in different ways. I find threading to be less painful while you find waxing less painful. Well, as long as we are happy with the method we use. All the best!

I hate to tweeze because I don't know how to do it. And it's so painful to tweeze. Eyebrow threading, the pain is less and the whole thing lasts about 5 mins. So, I find it worth my time and anguish.

I just tried it today and I love it. I use to get my eyebrows waxed but haven't in a while. I am lucky that my eyebrow hair is light.
I was walking through the mall and they were just opening up and I thought let's do it. The girls were not with me and it was a cool experience.
My eyebrows haven't looked this good in so long.
I want to take my 12 year old because she has very dark eyebrows and she says waxing hurts.

I never head of eyebrow waxing. Must be quite different, the experience I mean. We always get threading done on our eyebrows here. Thats what I have seen my mother and other females getting done. I am fortunate in this because my eyebrows are naturally well defined and neat. Lucky me, I know. lol

I had never heard of this but was intrigued enough to look it up. It looks interesting and does seem to do the job very well. For everybody else who doesn't know what is involved, here is a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NK-QzPLgUTo

Hi jonesy, thanks for the youtube video. It is gaining popularity in the west even though it originated in the Indian and Middle Eastern cultures.

Hi Sydney, I belong to India and eyebrow threading is the most common technique used for shaping the eyebrows. I have always got my eyebrows threaded and never got them waxed, rather eyebrow waxing is new for me. As mentioned by another myLotter friend, the redness could be for not applying toner after threading or for some people it happens all the time....I experience some redness everytime but it vanishes within an hour.....

I have never tried waxing either, but I know it is quite common in the US. The redness has gone away. My skin is rather light, so I guess there will always be some redness everytime I have it done. Have you experienced the thread suddenly snap, could that be the reason why there was some distinct redness. What happens when the thread snaps?

Terrible!! I never wanted to pluck my eyebrows as I strongly belived that it will damage your natural beauty. I didn't do it for my wedding too. Luckily the person who dressed me too did not ask me to do so. But recently I thought I should give it a try and went to the salon. I told the girl who came to pluck my eyebrows not to make it too thin just shape it without making me look like an artificial person. She agreed and when she atarted I creamed and everyone was shocked. It was soooooooo painful and I asked them why women wants to do such things? They all laughed and that was the first and the last visit to salon to pluck my eyebrows!!!!!

I seldom have my eyebrows shaped, without through plucking or threading. I have never tried waxing either. My sister used to do it for me when I got married. She was rather gentle about it. But when I first had my eyebrows plucked at a salon, it was really plainful and I never had that done again. I have seen people have their eyebrows threaded on TV and since it was so cheap, I decided to try it out. It was less painful than than plucking. With plucking, I had tears and I had to bite my tongue to bear with the pain, but threading was fast. There was a little pain, but it was quickly over. But I guess people have different thresholds of pain.
